Autopilot Options...

Hello Chums... :)...!

Every now and again I forget how I did things in the past, (including procreation*) so here we go...

On my Bendix-King Radio Stack, etc, Autopilot (Ap) also has Heading (Hdg) and Altitude (Alt) selection buttons.
This works fine, when I want to engage all of them, but sometimes I wish to select Autopilot (Ap)and maintain Altitude (Alt) but leave Heading (Hdg) switched off, so that I can manually vary my route.
On some of my aircraft, BOTH Heading and Altitude are fixed as soon as I select Autopilot (Ap) even with Heading (Hdg) button switched off!

I suspect that there may be an entry somewhere in the Aircraft.cfg file, where the "Autopilot" preference options, "Heading and Altitude", can be pre selected?

Paul..FS 2004... 8-)...!

*..and an out-of-date; "How-to", Manual... :-[...!

..... ;D....!

Paul, in the [autopilot] section, there are a couple of edits you can do: (works in both FS9 and FSX)

Dave, me old Chum... ;)...!

I think you might have cracked it with your suggestion!...>>>

"The other option when flying is to turn HDG on then off which will disengage the default wing leveler."

.... :D....!

Selecting at what point to toggle the Heading (Hdg) button on or off, allows me to choose whether I wish the Autopilot, or me, to take control of the Heading, and still maintain Altitude (Alt)!
(Its the Wing Leveller bit!)

It seems to work... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

Just tried it out on my little Cessna 150 Aerobat, with its full Bendix-King radio stack...

Wonderful!

Ta Dave!.. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

Paul..."Heading" your way, with a big bag of chocolate cookies!... ;D...!

Another option is to press "control-v" after starting the autopilot which will turn the wing leveler off direct without going through the  heading bit.
