Going Back to FS 2004

I have FSX in my present PC but although my rig (3.0 G, 3 Gig RAM, HD 6700 video) seemed adequate, I have to run the FSX at a reduced setting. I still have my FS2004 discs  and perhaps I can load it and run the game at a much higher setting. I"ll keep the FSX as I have ehough capacity for both. Any thoughts if this is all worthwhile?

It is very worthwhile. I love running fs9 every once in a while, I get 60 fps in cloudy weather. (yet on fsx I get 20-30 and 40 cruising)

If you have enough space on your HDD, its always a good idea to have both Sims installed.
I have CFS 2, FS 2002, FS 2004, and FSX on my HDD, and often run them for comparison, and often to assist other Pilots with their particular problems.
FS 2004 is my preferred Flight Sim for various reasons; it suits my (lowly) hardware system, and allows me to run everything smoothly at maximum settings.

Both Sims = best of both Worlds!... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

Paul.... 8-)...!

My personal opinion is that if you load up FS2004 with the best of the available freeware and payware... it rivals FSX quite nicely.  And will run on a much "lesser" machine that that required to get decent framerates on FSX.

YMMV

best,

I would say FS9 is a fine choice to run. As previously stated with the right add-ons it can and DOES rival FSX. I personally have 1000's of add-ons in my FS9 both payware and freeware and I wouldn't trade the performance for anything. I would NEVER be able to pull this off with FSX and I have a high-end system. My opinion, go with FS9. Load it up and you won't be disappointed. I would also recommend purchasing REX, or Real Environment Extreme. Well worth the price and makes FS9 a much more realistic sim. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Jeremy

P.S. Fozzer... are you sure you don't have enough sims? Do you want my copy of FS98 to help complete the en samble?
;D

Its a funny old do...

I have FSX....
...but I run FS 2004 every day of the week, most of the day, and I never (rarely) run into any disastrous problems which causes me total frustration, and asking for FS 2004 advice on the Forums.

So I spend all of my time actually; "Flying", instead of using my time trying to solve various insurmountable problems with FSX!...which is wonderful! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!
