My FS9 has two Problems

Postby Jean Loup » Sat Nov 17, 2012 4:27 pm

My copy of FS9, is unlocked from a Microsoft "Software Jukebox" DVD, that was included on a new PC. No problems UNTIL I added my first extra airplane, with an auto-installer: created a new FS9 folder for the aircraft, next to my full FS9 folder. I noticed why quickly: it was named "fllight simulator 9" (YES, with a double L  [smiley=undecided.gif]). Corrected & learned how to install manually!

BUT two issues bother my flying:

1.- First, the "piper_pa28_180" folder is there as default aircraft,  BUT not on the Menu when running the Simulator. [smiley=cry.gif] The pa28 folder has Model, Sound & Textures folders, missing the Panel one. Also has the .CFG & .AIR files as they should be, seems to me (a non-expert).

HOW can I make it available?

2.- Second, I downloaded & installed a beautifull Bf-109F 4 from SU prod. Alles ist Gute & flying fine, excellent paints & details. BUT the very first version on the list, "Oblt. Josef "Pips" Priller, 1./JG 26, France, 1941" is NOT in the Messerschmitt Menu (when running the Simulator): it is in a separate Unspecified Name [smiley=huh.gif]! I tried to edit the Aircraft.CFG file, but to no avail. The info is stored somewhere else, since even if I delete the CFG file, alles is the same when running the Simulator. They fly excellent, by the way: with 25 options!

Where should I configure that Bf-109F to be included in the Messerschmitt Menu?

Also, my HP Pavilion dv6736nr Entertainment Notebook PC  has Vista Home Premium 32-bit OS, 2.00 GB RAM, 220 GB drive C (with 111GB free space).
Muchas Gracias, Amigos! [smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]

Hi and Welcome.

The Piper is an AI texture only aircraft not intended for you to fly.

Your first question was answered by Webb.  As to the second, there should be a "ui_manufacturer=Messerschmitt" entry for every variation in that folder.

It is the [fltsim.0] who is UNSPECIFIED. Has the same ui_manufacturer = SkyUnlimited Productions & ui_type = Messerschmitt BF-109F 4 from [fltsim.0] to [fltsim.24]

Aircraft.CFG does not respond to text changes: I can even delete this whole file, all Bf-109F stay as they are. Maybe the .AIR file has to be configured (with what program, I wonder), or there is a cache file I have not found. The SkyUnlimited forum was in maintenance today, so I'll try to contact them tomorrow.

Other aircraft I have added to FS9, respont well to text changes in the aircraft.cfg file. This baffles me!

Thank you!

It's the .cfg.

GRACiAS, I downloaded the PA-28 to make it flyable.
...It took me a while to track this one down but I finally found it here.

I directed the install to a Temp folder to check it out & install it manually in my usual way. As I would expect for an ex-Payware product the auto-installer is configured correctly & should give no problems providing the install path is directed to your FS9 root directory.

I'm not sure what you've done but I had no problems at all with any of the variations. No editing is necessary. "Oblt. Josef "Pips" Priller, 1./JG 26, France, 1941" is listed along with all other variations under SkyUnlimited Productions.

If you delete Aircraft.cfg none of the aircraft will work or be listed on the menu. You must have tried editing the wrong file.
Hello, thanks for your help. I E-mailed SkyUnlimited (their forum is Spamed & Out) and the answer at the end said:

"So it appears the correct aircraft.cfg is not being fixed, or that your changes are not being saved to the file.
Jesse"

The NOT SAVING FiLE bounced around my empty skull (if it contained a brain, I would not be a Skydiver) so I clicked right over my desk FS9 icon, on PROPERTiES: CLiCKED a box SHOW SETTINGS FOR ALL USERS, and there CLiCKED RUN THIS PROGRAM AS AN ADMINISTRATOR. Now, the aircraft.CFG file responds. And my FS9 icon, the DC-3, sports a little Microsoft shield.

I have been using ViSTA (Home Premium) for less than a month, and it drives me crayze sometimes. What I wanted (you can't allways have what you wA-ant...) was the Bf-109F be included in the Messerschmitt Menu (not under SkyUnlimited) along with the Me-108 Taifun. Now it is done.

GRACiAS to all for your patience. I have other stupid questions for another time. HASTA PRONTO!

A 747 was halfway across the Atlantic when the captain got on the loud speaker, "Attention, passengers. We have lost one of our engines, but we can certainly reach London with the three we have left. Unfortunately, we will arrive an hour late as a r esult." http://www.mmomesos.com
Shortly thereafter, the passengers heard the captain's voice again, "Guess what, folks. We just lost our third engine, but please be assured we can fly with only one. We will now arrive in London three hours late."

At this point, one passenger became furious. "For Pete's sake," he shouted, "If we lose another engine, we'll be up here all night!" http://www.mmohome.com
