Installer Package always corrupt

Hi, regardless of aircraft,  installer packages never work for me. I get the following error message:

The application could not be installed because the AIR file is damaged. Try obtaining a new AIR file from the application author.

I'm using WinRar to extract. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have Adobe AIR installed? I haven't got it, but I understand that it configures Windows to associate all files ending in .air to the Adobe AIR programme. Maybe this is causing some confusion with the installers.

No I don't have it. Should I try installing it?

Hagar mentioned this problem some time ago regarding the Adobe .air file.
His recommendation was to uninstall/remove the troublesome Adobe .air file!
It is often included in an Adobe Installation and affects the Flight Sim .air files!

(The Icon looks different).

Clipper,

No, not suggesting you install it: quite the reverse!

Sorry that didn't help.

This problem is caused by the Adobe AIR software which is included with updates for Adobe Reader. As microlight says, installing Adobe AIR will automatically associate it with all files with the .air extension. It also changes the file icon & the file description from AIR file to Installer Package. Once Adobe AIR is installed to your PC the AIR files of all your FS aircraft will look like this.

If you double-click on the file or try to run it you will get this error message.

The MSFS AIR file is NOT an installer so don't try to run it. The file is not damaged or corrupt. Simply install the aircraft manually in the usual way.

PS. You can revert AIR files to their original appearance by uninstalling Adobe AIR from Add/Remove Programs. However, it's required for running certain applications like BBC iPlayer.

Thanks so much everyone for your responses. I'm slowly returning to the joy of simming after a prolonged absence...d-loaded a few of my old favourites and even had a notion to start taking screenshots again...
