Anyone know how to fix this?

Every time I go to do an IFR flight and file a flight plan, I get as far as my cruising altitude selection (the one using the map in flight planner) and then it freezes. I go to hit okay and nothing. So... as much as I would like to do an IFR flight, it's a no go until I can get it fixed. How do I fix this, and has anyone else had the same problem? Kind regards, Jeremy

I don't know if this will help... Sometimes I've had it freeze up if I have too many waypoints in my flightplan. I'm not sure how long a flight you're trying to make. If you're trying to set up a long cross-country via airways, you might try deleting a few waypoints before finishing up and saving. Good luck!

Any distance will make it freeze. I can go from KSEA to KPDX and can't get past the flight planner stage because it will freeze. So I am kind of confused. Kind regards, Jeremy

I suppose you still use the default flight-plannner and ATC when you get said it all freezes. If so, have you tried defining an IFR flight plan with an external program, like FSnav, or FScomm, or any add-on flightplanner add-on?

Yes, I do. Are those freeware?

FSnav SEEMS to have been recently released on the abandonware market by its coder (though I could be wrong... I read this on another forum some time ago... or at least I THINK it was another forum... been a while... and still needs confirmation)... anyway, FSnav has been out of market for a while now. Should you want to try, go here: http://www.flightsimworld.com/downloads ... e/435.html if what I read is true, you'll not need any registration, else you'll have a pair of weeks of tryout anyway and a chance (1 on 30) to see FSnav register itself free anyway, as you can read on the linked page.

FScommander is and remains payware... if you're interested, you can google its name and you'll find everything.

As for the other external flight planners, there are many freeware, though it's been years I've been using FSnav and never had the need to check any of them out, you can always use the search engines of the various freeware FS sites.

delete the FS9.CFG that is burried deep in your computer (NOT IN YOUR FS9 MAIN FOLDER).  start flight sim and let it rebuild the .cfg. then  fix all of your scenery sliders as they too will be reset to default.  lastly try to file another plan.

If you do choose to uninstall / reinstall....... download CCLEANER, install it, run it and then click REGISTRY to check and clean out the registry so that you can have a CLEAN INSTALL.
