I have forgotten how to set engine shut down times in FS2002 & FS9 . I have a beautiful T-6 that windmills at length after engine shut down while the sound stops very early . As I recall it was somewhere in Aircraft config .
thanks ,
Jamie

Having just seen a handful yesterday I can tell you that they do tend to stay on long after the fuel is cut...

Those have the P&W PT-6 in which the prop is not connected to the gas generator. They will windmill as long as there is a slight breeze blowing unless they are mechanically restrained.
cheers,
Joe

Hi All ,
I have set them in the past , but may have been FS98 . Took some time fiddling with the config file , but had them stopping beautifully . This was for piston engines planes only .

Feather the prop... rotates the prop parallel to the airflow, and will stop the prop from windmilling. This can be done on most advanced pistons and turboprops. If you feather the prop after shutdown, it will stop fairly quickly.

Most people change the prop MOI value in the CFG file.
Hope this helps,

I have FS2002 and 2004 and have only changed items in FS2002 so far . If you would like to see the difference these are some changes I made for three planes that make them more realistic :
T-6
Normalized start torque -- 1
Prop MOI -- 2
Waco Classic -- MOI - 30
Spartan Executive -- MOI - 3
