hello, Id like to know if I can donwload some photographs of some hard landing airports and strips around the world wich I saw in AMEVoice and where put their by Sandeep Kumar. They are 3 photographs per page completing 9 pages. I only recognize Portugal. The idea is to fly to each one.  8-)

Hard landing? Are you in search of difficult airports?

Simple. Just enter "dangerous" without the quotes in a whatever freeware search engine for FS and you'll be deluged.

Unless you have already some airports in mind, in which case, Google can help you more than everything else. :)

There was a documentary on the worlds 10 most dangerous airports, none of them in Portugal, there maybe spelling mistakes but I'll deny them :)

Easiest to hardest

San Diego Linbergh field
Mediera
Eagle Vail KEGE
Couchervel
Kai Tak (old Hong Kong)
Gibraltar
St Maarten St Juliana
St Barts (St Barthalmew)
Toncontin Honduras
Lukla VNLK (Try twin Otter)

Good Luck

Kai Tak doesn't exist anymore, beside on simulators, but it's one of the sweetest ever. Lots of fun landing there with a P51. Frustration in overabundance trying a fully loaded 747. ;D

Gibraltar is difficult only in Real Life, because the weather engines never replicate in a very good way the currents the nearby mountain gives (a lot like Palermo LICJ, that suffers of more or less same problems, both in Real Life and under FS). :-/

St Marteen Juliana is NOT, I repeat NOT a difficult airport. Even if they tell you to land from the runway from the hill (can't remember the bearings right now), there's more than enough clearance that suggesting that airport to someone who search a dangerous approach means disappointing him. Try Saba instead (under FS its id is SABA, in real life it's different) instead, only with a STOL. ;)

Courchevel or Lukla have more or less the same difficulties, Lukla maybe more only because higher above sea level. Both of them have CRAZY runways. Only suggested if you have the add-on (payware for both) scenery, if you DO NOT have said payware scenery... better forget about it. :P

St Barth is just sweet... BUT, like above, only if you have one of the payware add-ons ones. The default one sucks so bad, even light cannot escape attraction. :-/

Madeira is not so much dangerous per se as it has a complex and very worked approach... maybe in real life winds make it dangerous, but, as usual, FS and its limitations really destroy the greater part of the fun. :P

Toncontin... go there only flying a B757 max, and only if you're a hot shot, or you may repent your choices. Really challenging. 8-)

Never have been in KEGE nor in San Diego Linbergh field, so cannot suggest or shoot them down. I guess, for having being suggested here, they deserve a chance. :P

Personally, as an airport out of the list, if you really are in search for a challenge, I suggest BIIS Isafjordur... it's just something else, especially if you install the freeware scenery (for FS9). ;)

Search for "Doherty's Difficult and Dangerous Approaches".  it is volumes of stuff that will challenge the heck out of you.

I saw that on History Channel on July 21, 2010. The show was called "Most Extreme Airports." Maybe it can be looked up and watched on your computer...

I don't have the history channel - that costs money :)

It's been on ordinary free channels a few times and was on again the week before this thread started.
The only one I find difficult is LUKLA and part of that I think is because the fsx default scenery is wrong, can be awkward to take off from

Nice landing. You trained landing the 225 on a carrier, before attempting that? ;D

Surely you were helped by the unnaturally higher rolling friction FS has compared to reality... doing the same under X-plane would be suicidal. No exceptions. ;)

Personal toughest landing ever was the Concorde at old Kai Tak shooting the curved approach on the 13 (I have heard that in real life the Concorde landed there on the 31 instead, that one time it did)... as I had problems already with the way slower in landing 747... it wasn't at all easy. ;D

Shame I didn't think taking shots, back then... and doing it again would need I'd need to take confidence again with the supersonic bird first, since I've left it behind for props and pistons some time ago... planes with which I now feel the shiver of trying to land on BIIS, when I feel like hurting myself.  :D

If you like Concorde can I recommend....

But the mighty 225 is my stunt plane of choice most times....

Or there are some infamous episodes in the Sky Baby ;D ;D ;D

Ah, the brutal difficulty of default mesh SESM... ;D ...cannot go there anymore, sadly, as the world mesh I installed made it boringly normal... :P

I see you're a 225 admirer... the Concorde you used almost as it was a jet fighter, duty it was called to cover only and exclusively in one of the Airport movies. ;D
