lagging problem

Postby amaru » Wed Jun 01, 2011 5:15 pm

Hi guys,

I have world-of-ai installed along with ultimate traffic. I used ultimate traffic purely to expand the airport gate/parking numbers but the AI traffic is almost entirely WOAI traffic.

So, whenever I fly IFR between two airports (usually IFDG airbus) the system slows down upon approach causing lagging which makes the aircraft harder to control. This only occurs from approach onwards all the way to touch down.

I haven't reported the problem sooner as I was getting rid of my old laptop so thought it could be it, but now though, I am using a brand new hp laptop I bought a few months ago and the problem is still there. What could it possibly be? any solutions? I don't know the exact specifications of my current pc but will find out if you need to know something specific. help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

Been a while now I've been using ATC while loitering in, out and around a very trafficked airport, yet I had serious problems of lag and frame-rate dropping with my old rig, an Athlon Xp 2400@2600. Nowadays on my new rig in the sig, even staying in massively AI occupied airport, the very same airports that so many problems gave to the old system, it barely seems to notice them (though, honestly, I never use the default ATC anymore).

What kind of configuration has your new laptop exactly?

It is a robust configuration... but you didn't mention anything about video card. :-?

Problem is, the overall performances of a system like a PC is equal to its slower element's, and if yours has, to make an example, a cheap Intel integrated video interface, like so many notebook do to keep prices down, instead of a REAL GPU to man the video... I wouldn't be particularly surprised that you can't properly take advantage of the new CPU and memory's speed. :-/

Look into the hardware tag in the properties under "My Computer", or ask your dealer seen that Win7 has another procedure to open said hardware window than Win Xp. Unless you have something ATi or Nvidia made... sorry, you're high on pit creek without a shaddle. Was your rig a traditional one, you could replace your actual video adapter with a more performing one, but on a notebook you can only despair. Sorry to be bearer of bad news. :-/

Did a flight just now from Dusseldorf to Hamburg on iFDG A-319 Lufthansa, went well no problems, very smooth!

To speed things up try and shut off unnecessary running background programs and/or services. There was a program, some time ago, that did that for you almost automatically. Shut down any not strictly necessary running programs and services before starting automatically FS and it could start them up again when you ended your simming session... I'm afraid though I've forgot its name, as it's been a while (and a PC ago) since I needed it last... it was a freeware and not Game Booster, which is payware, though it worked similarly. Maybe someone remembers it and will signal it for you. :-/

i would still run through the FSX / WIN XP CONFIGURATION forum, or the FSX / WIN 7 CONFIG forum (even though you are on FS9...) to permanently shut down a lot of the services, and clean up your harddrive.

also, go to http://ccleaner.com to get CCleaner .. install and run it. Both the cleaner, and registry tool to clean up your harddrive. You will be amazed at all the crap you have laying around clogging up system resources.
