When you use the term "Premier" can we assume you mean Premier Aircraft Design (PAD) ??

PAD has at least two Dash 8's - which one is it that wish to modify?

And did you download it from the PAD site?

An exact filename and/or a link to the package in question
would be helpful.

Yeah, the callouts are built into one of the panel gauges.

You would need to identify the gauge file and disable it in panel.cfg.

Hi Opa and Webb ,
I thought I had checked to get notification of responses , but guess I had not .  Just now checked the forum .  Not sure where I got the Dash 7-100 , but the designer is Milton Shupe .  File is Dash 7 v1.zip .
Thanks ,
Jamie

Hi Opa ,

I'll check out the newer version .  I may have things mixed up since I initially indicated a Dash-8 .  I am fairly sure it was the Dash 7 with the call outs and it does show to be for FS2002 Pro .  I didn't think I got it at Flightsim since I mostly use Simviation and have since the beginning of my sim experience . Just not sure where I found it .
Thanks for the responses Opa.

Wow, that adds a lot of gauges.

Just experimenting a bit - try REMing out these gauges in panel.cfg (adding // in front of the entry).

Hi Webb ,

I have had several aircraft that had that feature that I wanted to disable so this will help .  At least now I know it is a gauge file of some sort and might be disabled as you indicated . Would be nice to simply have an off/on switch on the panel since it is useful in low visibility conditions , but an annoyance in VFR .

Thanks Webb .  I'll fiddle with it more as I have time .
Jamie

P.S.
I do have the request for replies notification checked in Simviation , but am not receiving anything in my e-mail .  I suppose I need to check my profile to see if Ihave the correct e-mail address listed .

Hi again Webb ,
I have so many planes that I get them confused at times .  I just flew the PAD Dash8-300 N342EN and it must be the main one with the call outs .  Had bank angle , to low , altitude reports , etc .  I went into the FS9 gauges folder and removed GPWS_Sound.gau and all of the call outs stopped .

Just out of curiosity, WHY would you want to turn off these sounds? The point and reason for having a GPWS (General Proximity Warning System) is just that.. A WARNING DEVICE!!! It is in place to let you know that you are turning too sharp {bank angle}, Altitude call outs {so you know how far the ground is away from you when landing, so you dont really have to guess at it}, "PULL UP, PULL UP.. DONT THINK - SINK RATE!!" {Your angle of attack to the ground is too steep, you need to pull up or you are going to crash}.

Yes these warnings may seem SERIOUSLY annoying, but think about if you are a passenger on an airplane and your captain is doing the maneuvers that you are trying to pull off, but in real life. You can get either injured or killed, or at the least have a REALLY crappy flight!

Hi Capt. ,

I do know they are very beneficial in real flying .  Have not flown extensively , but have approx. 5,000 hrs. mostly multi . Just did not want it in the sim most of the time .  Really very nice in heavy IFR .

"PULL UP, PULL UP.. DONT THINK - SINK RATE!!"

This I heard already... in an episode of the Mythbusters by Jamie at the control of a full motion Airbus simulator... just before he crashed... ;D

And here I thought it was "DON'T SINK". ;)

Hi everybody .
Thanks for the help .
I realize the moderator may move this , but just had to mention one of my most favorite planes that apparently found a wonderful home .  I was surfing one day and shocked to find that N100BH had been completely brought back to like new !  Fitting for such a sweet " lady " ! Was nice when I had it .  I also have fond memories of Charlie Hilliard ( mentioned in this article ) who  hangared next to me in the old days .

P.S.
If you ever see that old movie Jet Pilot with John Wayne and Janet Leigh  -- my cousin was actually flying the T33 .
Test pilot for Lockheed and still flying his Bonanza .  Milton Shupe was most helpful in painting his Twin Beech to duplicate Glenn's plane that he flew around the Middle East .
He is making a documentary with his good friend who won Oscar's for Tora Tora Tora , The French Connection , etc. Should be most interesting .

Thanks again to all who are most helpful in this great forum .
