Are you able to download real-world weather?

Postby Insert Name Here » Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:01 pm

Hi

When I try to use real world weather, I get the following message:
An error occurred while downloading real-world weather. Please check your internet connection and try again.

Is this a network-wide problem or is it just me?

Thanks

According to many, many similar posts at other sites, no one has been able to DL weather for a day or two.

Rumor has it that MS has shut down that service but no one seems to have seen anything offical in that regard.

It apparently was some sort of server problem -

All seems to be working correctly as of an hour or so ago.

Thank God !!

When you think about it....... fs2004 is about 7 years old now (that is 70 years old in "software years").  At SOME point you have to think that someone is going to pull the plug on the server that takes care of that data.  It has to cost SOMETHINNG to keep that online.

best,

Tim (MSGS programmer) reported on another website that the server is "getting long in the tooth" and needs to be replaced soon...

Aside from which, I've lost count of the number of times that the server has been "down" for irregular lengths of time over the past decade.

It was sheer coincidence that this latest outage occurred just on the heel's of the MS press release!  ;D

I use Active Sky so I am not too concerned about the default fs2004 weather downloads.  But if they kill that it will affect a lot of people.
