Running out of fuel

Ok, search function doesn't seem to be helping me on this. I want my aircraft to be able to run out of fuel, have the engine die and such, just like in real life if you run too long. Even though I don't have the "unlimited fuel" box checked, when my tanks empty, they magically refill. >:( Is there a setting somewhere I'm not seeing? I try and keep my experience with the game as real as possible. Any help here is greatly appreciated.

Never mind, I was silly. I was flying along and got a "ctrl+X" prompt which is for mixture and that is what refilled the tanks. I'm good ;D :-[

there are many settings in SETTINGS / ??? that can be played with to get your sim as real as possible.  look around.

1 thing that you will not find in your settings is a little entry into your FS9.CFG (NOT found inside your fs9 folder. it is found in .. C:/Documents and Settings/(user)/Application Data/Microsoft/FS9      --- you will need to have "SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS" checked so that you can see/get into APPLICATION DATA.

in your FS9.CFG, find the [Main] section and at the end of it, add::

[glow=yellow,2,300]Ave_Frame_Rate_Display=1[/glow]

When you hit SHIFT+Z+Z+Z to the far right, 2nd row, you will see your Average FPS, and Letency Information that FS is running at on your machine, or to the flight server that you are flying on.

What I discovered was happening was that it would give me a prompt for Ctrl+X which is adjust your mixture when I was getting low on fuel and like a dummy I would hit the Ctrl+X and it would refuel my plane. DER.

Thanks for the other tips.

The best way to "keep it real" is to turn off the Tips.

If you want REALISTIC controls, put the "GENERAL, P-Factor, TORQUE, and GYRO" all the way to the right, and then back to the left 6 clicks.

Uncheck Unlimited Fuel, and Auto Mixture, Display Flying Tips.

DO check, gyro drift, Detect Crashes, Autorudder (if you do not have pedals).

This will give you the most realistic feelings for your craft.
