Aircraft Damage Skin?

What is the purpose of this? I see on most aircraft models a skin for damage, but even with all the damage settings on, I never see any damage to the aircraft in the game. Is there a way to turn on the damage skin?

add "visual_damage=1" (without the quotation marks) to the bottom of EACH [fltsim.#] section. When you have crashes turned on, and you hit something, now your airplane will break apart (flaps fall off, tail may or may not rip off, wings may or may not rip off)... it just depends on how the designer has the 'contact points'.
as for Bullet Holes in your airplane.... Never seen it unless it was a Texture.? for the desired aircraft.
Example:
[fltsim.0]
title=Cessna Skyhawk 172SP
sim=Cessna172SP
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=Cessna172SP_check
kb_reference=Cessna172SP_ref
atc_id=N176CM
ui_manufacturer=Cessna
ui_type="C172SP Skyhawk"
ui_variation="White with blue and gray"
description="A stable and trustworthy plane, most pilots have logged at least a few hours in a Cessna 172, since it's the most widely available aircraft in the rental fleet, and is used by most flight schools. Since the first prototype was completed in 1955, more than 35,000 C172s have been produced, making it the world's most popular single-engine plane. One of Cessna's first tricycle-gear airplanes, the 172 quickly became the favorite of a growing class of business pilots. Its reliability and easy handling (along with thoughtful engineering and structural updates) have ensured its continued popularity for more than 35 years."
[glow=yellow,2,300]visual_damage=1[/glow]
[fltsim.1]
title=Cessna Skyhawk 172SP IFR
sim=Cessna172SP
etc etc etc etc etc

It's important to note that for this to work the modeler has to have this function built into the model.
I don't know of any FS9 addons that have it, most of the default do, if not all.
If you look in the texture folder and find files named *_T.bmp and do not find any named *_D.bmp then the model does not have damage built into it.
cheers,
Joe

Cool, thanks for the tip. I had some fun ripping the wings off a few aircraft. I've been going through my aircraft and there are a few addons that I have gotten that have a Damage.bmp and and the damage worked. So I'm happy. Now I'm having another issue with the game and fuel that I'll start a new thread about.

Of all my years with FS9... I did not know that you can visually tear your plane apart. Thanks, I shall have to try this out!
