Need admin/permission to add scenery

This just popped up on me, it won't allow me to add scenery on fs2004. I get a box that pops up that says "need administrator to log on to the computer to add scenery" Paraphrasing there. I've done the security tab to make sure the permissions are go to go for the folder. Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Stoneman

No clue what might have caused that to suddenly happen - but as a workaround, try disabling UAC (User Account Control) at least temporarily.

Someone else using your computer?
Log out, reboot, and see if it still happens.
best,

Thanks for quick response guys! UAC is off and no, no one else is using the computer. I didn't have a log in at all, so I made one to see if that would clear it up. I have NO idea.. WTF?
The searches I've done so far is that this problem comes up in windows 7, nothing for vista 64 bit.

Stoneman,
Have you checked the "run as administrator" box?

Check! What pops up is
"You do not have permission to install new files on this computer. Please have administrator log on to complete scenery installation."
All permissions are checked.

Strange....

I've never experienced problems like that on my trusty Windows XP SP2...!
Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Nav... 8-)...!
The later the Windows Operating Systems, the more problems that appear to occur!...

Have had the same thing happen with every OS I've used. Back in the day AOL was notorious for it. Try to make a change in any other program and see what it tells you. If you get the same message someone has gotten into your system and doesn't want you to make changes. Run a virus and malware scan and see what happens.

Hey Dave,
I can add anything but scenery in fs2004, FSX and all other programs are thumbs up, no problems at all. I run Malware bytes, Spybot & CCleaner about every other day. This is a weird one. I've have seen other problems like mine doing a google, but no one has posted a fix yet.
Thanks for your input!!

Stoneman,
You might consider moving FS2004 to its own folder in your C:\ partition (e.g., FltSim04) to get out from under the UAC. I moved mine, and now there's no need for me to give myself permission to add or delete things from my own software! The separate, hidden FS9 folder that contains the fs9.cfg file way down the hierarchy under the Users folder stays where it is.
I'm using Windows 7, but doing the above might help you in Vista.
You might consider backing up your current FltSim installation to an external drive or DVD before you make the move, just in case.

Try logging on as administrator and adjusting the user profile permissions... failing that logon as administrator and install the files. Then set the security permissions to full access for all users on the FS folder and any other relevant ones, that should do the trick

Did that first thing. Thanks though.
