Average frame rate display?

Postby JBaymore » Sun May 09, 2010 8:48 pm

Another thing I can't remember........ or find.

I know there is a mod to the fs9.cfg file that gives you an averrage framerate display and a variance and such.

Anyone remember the additions to the file?

best,

What do you mean? Are you talking about a mod to set the average framerate? Or are you talking about how to get the red lettering to display in the sim that shows the fps?

[Main]
Ave_Frame_Rate_Display=1
At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

The red lettering bit.

I believe that Dave has got it.

Can't you turn the lettering on and off in the sim by pressing Shift + Z? Or is that a different display?  :-?

That is the display I'm talking about..... and yes that is the key combination.  But when you add that line to the cfg file...... you get WAY more useful information.  Try it and see.

There are a lot of "undocumented" tweaks to fs2004 that are around.

Hm, I tried putting that in the fs9.cfg and it made no difference. Where do these figures show up? Are they there all the time?

Martyn,

That stuff shows up to the right hand side of one line...... it shows the minimum, average, and maximum frame rate as well as the variance, and also the data transmission rate when on multiplayer.

best,

...............john

PS:  Don't forget to place it in [MAIN].

John,

Still no show. This is what I have in the fs9.cfg:

[MAIN]
Ave_Frame_Rate_Display=1
Location=0,0,1920,1080
HideMenuNormal=0
HideMenuFullscreen=1
HideInfoText=0
Maximized=0

...and this is what I get - no display:

Image

Wonder if this might be anything to do with Windows 7? The screen resolution is 1920/1080 but I'm not sure that would make any difference?

:-?

It works OK on my FS 2004.... :-*...!

Added to [Main] in the main FS9.cfg text file....

[MAIN]
Maximized=0
Location=0,0,812,612
HideMenuNormal=0
HideMenuFullscreen=1
Ave_Frame_Rate_Display=1 // average Frame Rate

Gives additional information with successive key presses; (Shift + Z).

Martyn,

I don't see ANY display up there at the top left side!

If I remember correctly, there is a "tweak" that shuts off those thngs in the sim.

...'course, it would help if I pressed Shift+Z, wouldn't it!!

D'oh!

Not that it makes any difference actually, as the FR is locked on 25 and hardly ever drops below 24.5.

I'll go and lie down now.

Thanks, guys...
