FS 2004 Versus FSX............!

Can anyone tell me why FSX is much more harder to add things to especially AI Traffic, and also Scenery to than FS 2004.

I have both versions of FS and i personally think and like more FS 2004.

I can change the scenery and airport of my local airport(Birmingham UK),and also i can add plenty of Traffic using a PAI Installer, which obviously makes for more realism.
When trying to use PAI in FSX it doesn't work, and also i have many problems with WOAI installer in FSX also.
I bought FSX because i thought it would be much improved, there are a couple of things which look better, but im my opinion i cannot see that much else that is better.

So many airports within FSX are not even airports, they are just landing strips and not much else,at least within FS 2004 they have buildings which correct or not, resemble a airport and terminals.

Can someone put me straight and argue for FSX and perhaps learn me that FSX is so much better, cos at the moment i am really happy with FS 2004,and cannot see why anyone would be more happier with FSX,come on prove me wrong,i am willing to accept i am worng,if i am.

Thanks guys,

Jason........ :D

There are about a thousand threads, both in the FSX & FS9 boards discussing this topic.

It's a very old, and worn out topic that never seems to end well.

For every post you find that supports FSX as the better sim, you'll find one that supports FS9 as the better sim.

What it all boils down to in the end, is what hardware you have, and how well it handles each.

As for the AI, I use PAI & MAIW in both FS9 & FSX with no problems at all.

Adding scenery to FSX is no different than addding it to FS9.

Adding aircraft requires you to take 1 extra step than FS9 does, but it's still fairly simple.

FSX is to FS9, what FS9 was to FS8.

Happy reading.  ;)

Can anyone tell me why FSX is much more harder to add things to especially AI Traffic,

With World of AI:
FS9:
1- launch WOAI installer
2- choose the package
3- choose "FS2004"
4- press INSTALL.

FSX:
1- launch WOAI installer
2- choose the package
3- choose "FSX"
4- press INSTALL.

and also Scenery to than FS 2004.

In FS9:
- go to settings
- go to scenery library
- press "add scenery"
- choose the scenery folder
- press OK.

In FSX:
- go to settings
- go to scenery library
- press "add scenery"
- choose the scenery folder
- press OK.

Hmmm.... It seems to me that you are wrong

Actually, scenery management is hugely improved in FSX, as you don't have to close the sim to use it!

Open the Scenery Editor, make changes, go straight back to your flight.

Thx for the replies guys, but i must say although Daube i admit is correct in what he says about installing AI Traffic and also Scenery,it just hasn't happened so easy as you make out.

I have followed what people have told me,and a couple of years ago i had FS9 so i already knew a little of how to install Scenery and Traffic, but the WOAI Installer for some reason just didn't happen for me anyway?I kept getting a error message every time i tried to install any package. And yes it was WOAI package not PAI.
Also it didn't find FSX,it only came up giving the choice of FS 2004 or FS 2002,not FSX.
So really without Traffic in the whole thing of FS,there really isn't any realism,so this is one main reason i went back to FS9,until of course i can find out where possibly the problem lies.
If i can add Traffic and also Scenery in FS9,then i can do it in FSX,but as i say,it just doesn't seem to happen.
I think also the default airports are absolutely rubbish,i certainly would have expected much more improved and better terminals and ground also.
Perhaps i was expecting too much............... :-[

If, like me, you miss the "moving traffic" in FSX, do what I do, replace the default roads with this...>>>

Avsim:

bernd'sroadtextures_v1.zip

This will show (stationary) traffic on various highways and minor roads!

Make the World below you, look much more..."Busy"!.... ;D...!
(..and no effect on frame rates).

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...buzzing California Highway Patrol from the air!.... [smiley=evil.gif]...!

..P.S. Read the Read-me....and don't forget to back up the default roads in a Folder, for safe keeping!....;)...!

Jase,

Hi,
That's the same reason I like FS2004(9) It's easier to put add
ons in the sim. Both sims have their good and bad points.
Another reason is My PC has trouble running FSX, Until I get a faster  System I'll stick with FS9.

I'd just like to say that I installed FSX plus Acceleration on my old PC two days ago to check it out. No problems so far & it runs much better than I expected.

Adding aircraft & scenery is no different in FSX than it is in FS9 so I really don't understand the problem. As Fr Bill pointed out, activating scenery is easier in FSX as you don't have to quit the sim & restart it to add it to the database. I haven't tried adding AI traffic yet.
