Can you provide a link to the file in question?

One of us can then download it and check it out.

I never allow an auto-installer to install anything directly to my sim setup - I always direct it to a temporary folder so I can see exactly what it does.  Then if everything checks out, I manually move the various items where they should go.

Please ignore my original reply. I've deleted it.

I downloaded the file from your link to check it out. If you read the instructions after running the auto-install all becomes clear. It's not a complete aircraft. You need to install the base file for the A330-200.

[font=Courier][size=10]Thankyou for downloading POSKY V2 A330 Series. Installation is simple! just copy and paste the text below into the correct base aircraft.cfg and replace the XX's with the next number in line!, take the texture folder and put it into the correct A330 base folder.

You need to install the correct base file for this aircraft. I haven't tried it but presume that's one of the files posted here. http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads.php?aircraft=4hest&location=basepackage

To quote the instructions for the Austrian Airlines repaint.
take the texture folder and put it into the correct A330 base folder

So what i understand i need to download this base aircraft with some random colour then i will add my preffered livery?

Thanks Hagar i will test this later. My crap internet does not allow me to download this. Do you think the Scandinavian Airlines A330 on the posky site works to or is this just compatible with FSX?

I'm still trying to figure all this out myself. Posky aircraft were never the easiest to install & this one is even more confusing than usual. ::)

The Posky aircraft are mainly for FS9 although there are FSX versions of some types. Make sure you get the right files.

PS. I suspect the Scandinavian A330 is a repaint like the Austrian Airlines one you already have. This will need the A330-300 base file.

This thread interested me so I downloaded the base package and the Austrian texture from the Posky site.

I did NOT use the auto-installer for the texture but rather directed it to a temp folder first.

The texture should only be placed in the Opensky A330-200noVC PW version - That was determined by checking the name of the .air file in each version. It must match what is called for in the aus variation (the [fltsim.xx] data).

In addition to copying the texture.aus file to the correct base package and adding the [fltsim.xx] data to the aircraft.cfg (my number was

Every aircraft should be based on the same installing procedure :-/.

I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately there has never been a template for configuring addons.

These are some of the most complicated files I've ever come across in over 10 years of messing around with FS/CFS addons. It's plain to me that they were never tested properly before being posted.

If you really want the Austrian Airlines A330 download the NO VC version here. http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads.php?aircraft=4hest&location=basepackage

Install the Opensky A330-200noVC PW folder to FS9\Aircraft in the usual way.

Now paste the texture.aus folder from the Austrian Airlines repaint into it. Open Aircraft.cfg in Notepad & add this new entry, below the [fltsim.1] entry & just above the [General] header. (Copy it directly from this post & paste it in.) Exit Notepad saving changes when prompted.

Just a brief note to anyone who might want to port this setup over to FSX.

The existing panel.cfg will need to be edited to point to an existing FSX panel such as the default B737_800 panel.

The edit would look like this:

[fltsim]
//alias=b737_400\panel
alias=B737_800\panel

The two foward slash marks simply tell FS not to process that line.

If you do not make this change, the aircraft will not be selectable in FSX.  The original alias points to a panel which does not exist in FSX and thus FSX will think this is an AI only aircraft and will not display it on your Aircraft Selection screen.

You would also need to create jpg images named thumbnail.jpg for each variation and place them in each texture folder if you want to see a picture of the aircraft on the selection screen.

I have not flown the aircraft in FSX yet but it does seem to display properly.

Hope this info is useful.
