A funny thing happened...

Postby Fozzer » Mon Sep 21, 2009 6:37 am

...on the way to the Theater.... :o...!

...actually...

I was coming in to land at Gnoss Airfield (KDVO) from Hamilton AFB (SRF) in my new Cessna 305 (Bird Dog) when in front of me I spotted an unusual sight...

...a Cessna 152S taking off from KDVO.. :o...!

Strange, I thought, after zillions of years of flying FS 2002 and FS 2004 that is the first time I have spotted a non-default AI aircraft in the skies in a Solo, non-Multiplayer flight!
The Cessna 152 was never included in the Simulators, and although I have a Hangar full of downloaded C150's and C152's, I have always been under the impression that only Default Aircraft are used as "AI" in the Sim.. ::)...!

MS Default Aircraft are programmed to fly a predefined pattern.

I flew alongside of this little beauty, and sure enough, it was definitely identified as a Cessna 152, (not a Default Cessna 172SP/182S, etc)!

Unfortunately, I didn't have ATC running at the time, otherwise it would have confirmed it, and warned me of its proximity?

What do you make of that?....non-default aircraft acting as AI aircraft in the air....
I cant recall coming across that before!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004....and sober!... ;)...!

Edit.

I suppose you didn't think to take the registration of this mystery bird.

My first thought is that it's part of a package containing AI aircraft & flight plans. I seem to recall getting some of these with the Voz scenery.

So far sitting there on the ramp and watching AI, I've seen U-2s, F-5s, endless 737s & 321s, numerous 747s, gulfstreams, caravans, lears, citations, heck, I even watch a Jenny take to the air.

But no 152.

Should be easy enough to find your C152. Use TTools to decompile your Traffic BGL files.

..its possible it came with the "Flabob" add-on Scenery in East Los Angeles* which I installed some time ago.

I followed it from Gnoss Airfield, down to San Francisco, so it probably was on its flight path back to LA...

...too far for me to wander before Dinner...;)...!

So there you go, these non default AI planes, and their flight paths, may come together with certain add-on scenery?.. ::)...!

They catch me by surprise!... :o...!

(I am surprised by most things!)... ;)...!

Paul... ;D...!
