If you can't turn off UAC, you're SOL. ::)

Absolutely the worst thing about Vista.

being that i do not have VISTA, and probably wont as long as my XP machine will run........

to those that do have VISTA..... could you put your addon scenery's SCENERY and texture folder content directly into the ADDON SCENERY / SCENERY and /Texture folders, and have FS read it from there with the UAC turned ON??

I know that xp does things A LOT differently... but i am just wondering if that might help.  If not, just forget I said anything.

I think I've found the problem: Vista doesn't let you change the scenery.cfg file, showing it what scenery you want to use. :)

I've never seen an add-on scenery that requires that.  What scenery is that?

But as far as Vista and .cfg's, you should be able to copy the .cfg to the desk top, edit, close and save, then copy paste it back in.  You must have been able to turn off the AUC at one time, since IINM, you have to do that in order to install FS9 to begin with.   :o

I'll add my 2d worth....I have Vista64 HE.   FS9 is in the  Programme 86 folder.  My UAC is off & I have an FS9 cfg shortcut in a folder with others on my desktop.    I add to Addon Scenery & restart FS9 & it appears.
HOWEVER, sometimes (& this happened recently) scenery (Swiss Sion) just vanishes & I have to reinstall it.   This never happened in XP & put it down to Vista being just another flakey Windoze programme...... :-?

Why can't you turn off UAC ?
