Alaska scenery

[color=#000000]Every Alaska scenery for small airports and/or float plane bases requires some other add-on, that I don't have, often payware? Can anyone tell me why? I found several good small airport scenerys for the state of Washington, but none for Alaska. Now where is that frustrated smiley?

Can't answer your specific question......... but I can highly recommend the free Glacier Bay enhancement by Holger Sandmann and friends.  

It is a two part download which will blow you away.  There are a number of other free addons which compliment this fine work also.

It is available at several sites.

Freeware Alaska Scenery Files.

Hopefully, when the Avsim Library is up and running again, all the BFU Alaska Scenery Files will be available again......... ...!

Ok, this is probably what I wanted, just a bunch at once instead of several indivdual files, plus the enhancements and ground textures.

Landscape and scenery enhancements for parts of Southeast Alaska and adjacent B.C./Yukon. I had seen references to this but not the actual file description. If it doesn't bog my system down, I'm sure I will love it. Thanks for the help guys.

Back to the same situation. After downloading I read the readme file which informed me I had to have Microsoft's .Net Framework. It then went on to say, "If you have concerns about the use of the .Net framework please do not install Glacier Bay v2." I looked at it once, but it appeared to be over my head so I do not have it. I really don't even know what it is or does. Is there any reason I should be concerned about using it?

Not at all. The way I understand it, is that the .Net framework is a sort of programming language, a bit like C++. Many developers use it. Once you download it, just run the installer (will take a few minutes)and you should be set. The only thing to know is which version of .Net to get.

Everything you download is covered, it seems, by some type of disclaimer or prerequisite.

As Groundbound1 has said, there is nothing to fear about installing any of the Net framework packages.

These are use by many different programs as you will discover over time.

The important thing is to get to version specified in the Glacier Bay documentation.

When you go to the MS download site you will likely see a number of different versions available.

Found out I already had 2.0 on my machine and did not know it. Installed Glacier Bay and I have one comment and one question.
