Background sound problem

Hello. Recently I am experiencing an engine-noise in the background of every flight I am doing in FS2004. To be honest I have no idea about how to remove it. I thought it happened after installing GMax Agusta helicopters, I have tried to remove the folder, but the sound remains.
Since GMax Agusta was installed using an .EXE file, I have tried to un-install it using control panel, but this program doesn't appear on the applications list.
Anyone has an idea about what to do to remove this awful sound in tha background?
Thank you

Andrea

A link to the Agusta download would be helpful, as we could look at the install.

You could look in Start>Programs and see if the install placed any shortcuts there....

Or look in your FS2004 main folder for an uninstall. Do not mess with the 'UNINSTAL.EXE' you find there as this is for uninstalling FS2004.

Thank you Dave for your answer.
No, there are not shortcuts or uninstall. And I am not 100% sure that GMAX Agusta caused the problem (the one I've installed can be found at http://www.simviation.com/fs2004helicopters5.htm "FS2004 Gmax Agusta A109 Package".
Is my problem a 'rarity'? Maybe there's only a file which goes in conflict with something else. But I am not an expert user in FS2004, so I dunno what to do.

This is a reason you should avoid using self-installers at all costs.

All you have to do is create a "New Folder" on your desktop, and install directly to there.  When the install is over, you can manually place the files by looking at where they installed to on the other folder and dropping them in the corresponding folder in FS.  This way, if you find that you are replacing files, you can opt not to do so.

I'm betting this is what happened to you.  The installer replaced one of the ambient sounds of the sim inadvertently, and now you don't know which one.

Andrea,

There is nothing in the Agusta installation that should cause the problem. The install is the aircraft and a few gauges in the main gauges folder. There is no uninstaller.

Do you hear the sound at all times? (engines on or off, on the ground or in the air, in the cockpit or external views)

Have you installed anything else lately, maybe an environment package, or

Do you remember what you installed just prior to the sound starting up?  If you can, you could reinstall that same item to a temp folder and see what sound files were installed at that time.  Then look in the folder the sound is located in on the FS installation and find it.  Don't delete it, as it may not be that simple.  Just zip it up and then delete the file.
