Download write up includes the following:
"Also included in this pack is a complete scenery of RAF Hawkinge airfield as it was in the 1940s. Produced by Gary Burns, this evocative package contains Spitfires and Hurricanes which perform taxying and takeoff routines. It's a great place to base your Hurricanes and they certainly look at home."

The Readme states:

SCENERY
The Hawkinge scenery has been built by Gary Burns as an authentic 'home' for the Hurricane.
You'll find Hurricanes and Spitfires performing takeoff and landing sequences and taxying around the base. It really makes an evocative addition to the pack and our heartfelt thanks go to Gary for a fine job.
Please respect his copyright.

Aeroplane Heaven offers this scenery as an optional enhancement to the Hurricane release and as such we accept no responsibility for it. Any concerns and comments regarding this fine scenery must be addressed to Gary directly."

The Hawkinge airfield isn't on the UK list of airfields in MFS and I cannot find any evidence of the aforementioned scenery in the download files. Can anyone tell me where it is located? :-?

Thanks for that Fozzer, but I want to know where I might find the scenery package supposedly contained in the download, not the physical location of the airport. I guess my question was somewhat ambiguous.

The file description is incorrect - the scenery was not included in the package.

A quick search of SimV's downloads find a 1940 Hawkinge scenery package here: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery85.htm  hawkinge.zip

The readme indicates the author is Gary (no last name given), 1940 Hawkinge with Spitfire and Hurricane ai aircraft traffic. Sounds like it might be the one.

Edit: Loaded the scenery and does appear to be the one.

Thanks to you all. I had found the SimV Scenery package after my initial posting and downloaded it but hadn't inspected it. So thanks to Dave for doing so.

I'll try that first and then Flightsim's if necessary.

The SimV version works just fine (except I need to change the various aircraft cfg.'s from "experimental" to "Air Force").

Nice to see someone else flying that Hurricane, JJH.

I'm of the generation that actually got 'defended' by them - and have always thought that the Spitfire 'grabbed the glory' but the Hurricane 'did the hard yards.'

Whatever - I'd just say that it's one of the best FS downloads I've found, ever. A truly beautiful model. And not only does the engine noise hurt your ears if you're not careful, the rate of climb can scare the wits out of you if you're not careful/organised.........

Went 'round the world' in one once. Even used it a while ago for a tute on crosswind landings.

I am also of that generation. My father and two uncles served with the Canadian Forces. Both uncles over there, one a pilot and the other in the army. Father was regular RCAF attached to a radar station on the east coast of Canada.

As I was an Air Force brat until I graduated High School, I've always been interested in WWII aircraft, and have downloaded quite a few, especially those with Canada's colors and ensignia.  I agree with you that this package is second to none.

I am curious as to why is there no nose cover on the RCAF model. (Maybe we couldn't afford one.)

The first Hurricanes produced for the RCAF by CC&F were Hurricane Xs. These were basically Canadian built Hurricane Mk. Is with cut down Battle props without spinners, eight gun wings, and no glare shields. They carried RCAF serials 1351 to 1380.

Hagar: I'm even more impressed with this download when I realize the makers of this model went to the trouble of including this bit of trivia in its construction.

Hi Jim. I learned something today too. Aeroplane Heaven has a good reputation & now you know why. It just goes to show the amount of research some FS developers do before producing anything. I could be wrong but believe this package was originally payware.
