FS9 wont save flight

no matter where I try to save it... "SELECT A ... " or from in flight, FS9 will not save.

here is what it shows in the FS9.cfg

[USERINTERFACE]
MAP_ORIENTATION=2
PAUSE_ON_LOST_FOCUS=0
PROMPT_ON_EXIT=0
PageID=3
OpenATCOnCreate=0
SITUATION=
SelectFlightLevel=0
SelectFlightTitle=0
FSLiveURL=www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/product/fsliveweb.asp

i have tried deleting the .cfg and letting it rebuild... no go. Still will not save.

if someone could show me their Situation= from their FS9.cfg, then i could write my own and i know it will save.

Thanks

Having saved my current flight; "Cessna 150 at Rio Vista", from the drop-down Menu, when I want to re-load it again, it appears on this loading screen ready for me to select....>>>>

I don't have any problems with that arrangement.

'Situation=' stores the path to your user defined 'default flight'. If you have not saved a flight with 'Make this the default flight' checked, it will remain empty. When the line is empty your opening 'Create A Flight' screen shows the fallback 'default flight', Cessna at Seattle.

'Make this the default flight' is available when saving a flight or from the Select A Flight screen. Sometimes the setting will not stick when saving a flight. Just select the flight and check 'Make this the default flight' again before 'Fly Now'.

i have done EVERYTHING to make my whatever flight DEFAULT, but nothing will stick to the SITUATION= line in the .cfg.  That is why i was asking if someone could show me their Situation= line, then i can manually tell it where i want to be placed, what aircraft... etc etc etc.  NOTHING is sticking to the Situation= line no matter what i click.

UPDATE

Thanks OPA.  That did the trick.   I now have:

SITUATION=C:\Documents and Settings\me\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files\Default

which gives me the F14D at NDVI, which was what i was looking for. Being that I am doing so much scenery work there.  I did / do not want to have to keep changing it to go there, I just want to boot up, and hit "FLY NOW" and get to work.   Having to change everything takes at least 2 min out of my 'could be working time'.  Now, i can just get on it.

BTW:: UPDATE ON THE SCENERY::
all that i have left to really do, is put some military style hangars on the flight line and maybe a few static planes out in the field as a "bone yard" and everything will be ready to ship out.

next step after packaging....... UPLOAD and Passout the freebies!!!!

Glad you got it sorted out.

As Dave mentioned in an earlier post, FS2004 occasionally does not record the "make this the default" flight on the situation= line. Usually resaving it several times with that option checked will do the trick.

Ummm . . . not to dampen your spirits, Propwash, but you do realize that ANY large airport in the US must have, at the beginning of the ICAO identifier, a "K".  The only time you can use a state identifier (N for Nevada, I guess) is when it is followed by a pair of numbers.  At least that's as far as I know.  This is only if you're looking to be realistic, however.  And since that base is definitely not there, I guess it really doesn't matter anyway . . . ;) :D
