Slowing the Slew!

Hello Chums...;)...!

FS 2004:

Can anyone highlight the six entries in the FS9.cfg File that slows down the SLEW RATES to a fast walking pace on the ground, to allow me to edit the scenery during my designs, (LAGO and EZ-Scenery).

The six Slew entries in the File needing to be slowed down when using my Twist Joystick:

Moving Forward.
Moving Backward.
Moving Left.
Moving Right.
Twisting Left.
Twisting Right.

There are a number of Slew entries in the file, but I only need to edit six of them to achieve the results above.

I had them working once before quite successfully, but have since lost the entries with a new .cfg file... :'(...!

Many thanks Chums!... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

Why not just use the directional arrows?  One tap for 6 knots, two taps for 13, three for 20, etc.

Paul, if your keyboard has a number pad, you may want to use that. Keys 1 and 3 should swivel left and right. 5 I believe orients you straight and level. 7 & 9 tilts, and so on.

Fozzer, the speed of the slew mode is directly connected with the joystick sensitivity settings in FS. Lower the sensitivity and the slew mode will be slower.

I find the easiest thing to do when placing objects in slew mode is to simply slow down the sim rate (R and the minus key a few times).

I slew only using the numeric keyboard.

Hello Daube...

I don't want the settings to change the Default Sensitivities on my Joystick for normal Flying activities...

...just for slowly Slewing around in all horizontal directions at a walking pace whilst on the ground using the Joystick in "Y" Slew Mode..;)...!

Certain of the entries in the FS9.cfg File require modifying, (I've done it before, but forgotten what they were!)...>>>>

[KEYBOARD_SLEW]
SLEW_TOGGLE=89,8
SLEW_ALTIT_UP_FAST=115,8
SLEW_ALTIT_UP_SLOW=114,8
SLEW_ALTIT_FREEZE=113,8
SLEW_ALTIT_DN_FAST=112,8
SLEW_ALTIT_PLUS=81,8
SLEW_ALTIT_MINUS=65,8
SLEW_PITCH_DN_FAST=119,8
SLEW_PITCH_DN_SLOW=118,8
SLEW_PITCH_FREEZE=117,8
SLEW_PITCH_UP_FAST=116,8
SLEW_PITCH_PLUS=57,8
SLEW_PITCH_MINUS=48,8
READOUTS_SLEW=90,9
SLEW_BANK_MINUS=36,8
SLEW_AHEAD_PLUS=38,8
SLEW_BANK_PLUS=33,8
SLEW_LEFT=37,8
SLEW_FREEZE=12,8
SLEW_RIGHT=39,8
SLEW_HEADING_MINUS=35,8
SLEW_AHEAD_MINUS=40,8
SLEW_HEADING_PLUS=34,8
SLEW_RESET=32,8

Slowing down the slew Rate in the above settings also assists in slowly manoeuvring Aircraft around whilst on the Ground...;)..!

...its not too  difficult placing objects with LAGO FSE, as the Keyboard keys are used for object placement once you have Slewed into position....(Print out the LAGO Instruction Manual for reference).

The Slew problem really occurs when using EZ-Scenery Designer, using the Joystick for object placement..;)...!

I've got down, selecting and manipulating the object, I just need to work on my initial positioning.  ;D ;)

The fun part is recreating the 'road map' accurately using taxi ways in AFCAD.

I don't have the Abacus EZ, but I have all of their object libraries, also have the RWY12 setup. ;)

The list of Add-on scenery, etc, in my FS 2004 Library now stretches from my Monitor, through the floor, down through the basement, and is rapidly filling up a disused Coal Mine below the foundations...

...Australians beware... :o...!

...and that's just for the State of California!... :o... :o... :o...!

The areas in bold should be your 4 cardinal directions.  Forward, backward, left / right.    Heading, would be your twist or yaw.

as others have questioned, why not use the directional arrows for foward/backward, left right.. and maybe only mess with your SLEW_HEADING_MINUS/PLUS in the FS9.CFG .... that way if you ever wanted to use your joystick to get the 5000knots slew with your stick, then it would still be there.

I have designed a whole airport and it is about to be released as soon as i put 3 fuel stations, and 6 hangars on site, and i used SLEW+ARROW KEYS the whole time with no problem.

I do understand you want to use the joystick, but i am only asking, please do not be too offended by this, but what do you have against using the keyboard arrow keys?
