FS edit SDK and panel modifications

Postby Whiskey-Bravo-451 » Wed May 13, 2009 5:53 pm

ok, so i tried finding some info on my little problem, but i have had no luck. maybe some of you might have had this same problem

i downloaded the FSedit SDK a few days ago and modified some panels to some of the planes in my library. This isn't the first time i have done this. previous times were all successful, but this time, when i modify the panels, it will erase sections of the panel.cfg file. i did change the bitmap image file name in the .cfg file, and it did show up in the editor. but once it was saved, it didn't show up in the actual simulator. so i checked the cfg file and it was gone. any ideas or what is the proper procedure to modify panels

On a secondary note, does anyone know of an accurate panel for the p-40?

Well, for the first part of your question: DO NOT USE FSEDIT!  I have never been successful in making it work without bugs.  If I need to edit one of the *.cfg files, I simply open it in Notepad.  It takes a bit more understanding of how the files work, but is well worth the effort, since you won't end up with a buggy system.

Check out this thread for a link to a panel creation tutorial.  It's meant for actual creation from scratch, but should have the information you're looking for.  If that doesn't work for you, I can possibly make a short tutorial for what you're asking.
