Please Help Me!, FS2004 won't open!

hello everyone, i have a problem, I PURCHASED fs9 a long time ago. Recently, fs9 stopped starting. I reinstalled it and it still doesn't start. I looked into the fs9.cfg to see if there is a problem there. I found out that there is not even a FS9 folder in the application data section and that there is no fs9.cfg! whats wrong with the install, is it a bad disk, messed up reg, or something? Also, when i try to open it, the opening screen does not even come up! Help please! Thanks

I don't think the fs9.cfg file will exist until you have successfully started the game for the first time.



Were you able to complete an uninstall of FS9 before reinstalling?

Yes, and I used save files and settings, but i was suppose to uninstall everything because my FS2004 folder is full of stuff and is like 17gb!  so after the uninstall of all the basic files, i manually deleted the rest ( freeware addons and stuff, This may be a part i messed up? Im using windows xp sp3 Btw. Thanks for replying.

Check the list of installed programs (in the Control Panel) and see if FS9, or anything that is part of FS9, is still installed.  If so, uninstall EVERYTHING, and then reinstall.

If FS9 doesn't show up in the list of installed programs, you definitely need to uninstall/reinstall.

P.S. ..remember that the FS 2004 "Un-install" program is on the FS 2004 Installation disk!

You pop the disk in, to Un-Install the program.

what are your system specs? do they meet the FS9 minimum?


I tried running FS8 years ago on an older system and it would not startup.




When you try to open the program, does it show up in your task manager?

Have you performed any system restores as of late? These have been know to cause issues like this.

I fixed it. It was my dam firewall. I allowed fs9 but it still was blocked, with the firewall (online armor) on, fs9 wont start, but after i closed it it starts. Thanks for all the replies!:) Btw i uninstalled the firewall, avast is good enough...
