OMI Buzzers?

Postby Stewy44 » Wed May 06, 2009 5:52 am

Hi guys,

Just a couple of quick questions that have been bugging me for a while.

Firstly, is it possible to 'bring back' the OMI (3 approach marker) buzzers that used to be in older versions of FS?  Is there a config tweak or something?

Secondly, is it even realisitic to have the buzzers?  I'm not a pilot, so I don't know ;)

Talking about the default heavy metal aircraft too - not addon aircraft or sound-packs.

Thanks for your help guys

If you mean a different sound FOR the "buzzers".. it's just a matter of swapping the the .wav files.

But I

Wow...

..that's interesting...

I haven't noticed, in the latest versions (FS 2004), but I have a funny idea that in the earlier versions of the FS, an audible warning was sounded each time we passed over the markers and the OMI lights lit-up.....Outer...Middle...Inner...;)...!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004.... 8-)...!

...or.....I'm going deaf.... :'(....!

..... ;D....!

Edit:...Got it Brett!....I tend to turn off sections of the Audio panel to prevent some of the more "annoying" sounds... ;D....!

.... ;D....!

Look on the radio stack audio control panel. You should find a switch/button named 'MKR'. This turns the markers' audio signal on/off.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Paul.... ;D...!

I have an idea that all the Audio Panel switches are "On" by default, and if we switch any of them "Off", they remain off during future flights....(fs9.cfg File)...until we switch them on again!...;)...!

As noted, you must have the audio channel turned ON to hear the OMI beacon's tones...

Additionally, understand that not every approach has these beacons installed.  In fact, most airports do not!

Some runway approaches have only an outer marker, some have outer and middle markers, some have only outer and inner markers, etc.  ;D
