Full Throttle all the time

All of the sudden I'm experiencing a problem.  When I load FS2004 and start a flight I have full throttle and can't set it back to idle.  I use a Saitek X52 and have tried re-calibrating with no change.  My keyboard commands don't work either.

Does anyone have an answer?  Also, if the answer is  to uninstall and reinstall the simulator will I lose all my add ons?  I have several airplanes and quite a bit of scenery that I added.

Thanks

What aircraft?  Sounds like you may have saved your default flight with autothrottle on. If so, the setting will be applied to any new flights you create.

Start the sim and click 'fly now'. This will start your default flight. Check the auto throttle and  other autopilot settings, and return them to off and save the flight.

It sounds like you've saved your previous flight whilst at full throttle. Just close the stick throttle down and press F1.
Better yet just turn the engines off and then save that flight and the problem will go away ;)

Thanks for responding.

I wasn't very clear in my description.  This happens with any aircraft I select and with new flights.  Also, F-1 has no effect.  It's like the program has quit recognizing the commands for the throttle.

Yup it is almost certainly the old save.
Shutdown the engine and try and save ;)

Mine's an X52 also.  How does throttle look in the calibrate joystick/properties 'test' window?  Maybe, if you unplug then plug it back in, it'll reset itself.  Has for me.

Hey, you were right!  I had no idea that would cause all the aircraft to act the same.  I don't know how I did it but I must have saved my flight with the autothrottle on and engines spooled up.  I shut it off then put the engines back to idle and now everything works!

Thanks a lot!  I thought I had a baaaaad problem.   ::)

Seems like everything that happens has happened before and someone here knows about it  :).
