FSX planes in FS2004?

Hi,
I have been given the RealAir Spitfire for FSX. However, FSX on my computer is awful, despite being able to run fs9 on full graphics.
Is there any way that I can make the Spitfire compatiable for use in FS2004? As I understand it, the textures are in a different format?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It is my understanding that if the aircraft was created following all of the FSX standards and guidelines, it is not compatible with FS2004.
Many "so called" FSX aircraft are not created that way however - they are FS2004 aircraft which have been been tweaked to work in FSX.

I presume that these are not "True" FSX models created with the FSX SDK. They are most likely FS9 aircraft updated to work in FSX. The FS9 originals would probably be more suitable for FS9.

Just because they may be listed here and on other sites under the FSX category does not guarantee the aircraft are "true" FSX aircraft.
As has been mentioned already, many "so called" FSX aircraft are really FS2004 aircraft which have been tweaked to work in FSX rather than being designed from scratch as an FSX aircraft - following all of the Microsoft guidelines.
There is a significant difference.

What this means is that True FSX aircraft cannot possibly work in FS9. The MDL & textures are in an incompatible format. There will probably be a problem with 2D panels as the FSX default gauges are not included in FS9.

It was the same for true FS2004 models in FS2002. A prime example of it was Moach's 737 that showed up as invisible in FS2002. That aircraft alone was probably the only reason I ended up switching to FS2004 and I've been stuck with it since.

The difference is truly obvious. A "true FSX" aircraft has TWO .MDL files...
Just look in the default FSX C172 ..\model folder and you'll see three files. A "model.cfg" file and two .mdl files, one of which has an "_interior" suffix:

cessna172sp.mdl.mdl
cessna172sp.mdl_interior.mdl
model.cfg
In short, if a ..\model folder has 3 files, it is a "true FSX model."

Also there are differences in the .air file and the aircraft.cfg file.
A true FSX .air file has a few items removed and placed in the aircraft.cfg file as compared to a similar FS2004 .air and aircraft.cfg file.

I have at least two that I believe to be FSX models: A Grumman AgCat and the Fokker DR-1. I can't remember from where I got 'em, but I am pretty sure the description stated they were FSX models. Thinking they might or might not work, I downloaded and installed 'em only to find that for my purposes, they work 100%. I am happy with them. And ain't that all that matters? Why get into a urination contest about something so trivial? Keep 'em flying...

I never knew that... Im going to start transfering my FSX downloads!
But why is it that payware products only list that its compadible with FSX or 9? If they can both work on both game?
