Not really wanting a Super Connie, but finding a repaint that rang a nostalgic chime, I stepped off the pier.

Make sure the aircraft cfg file is set up like the following
[fltsim.1]
title=Boeing 747-400 Paint1
sim=Boeing747-400
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=1
kb_checklists=Boeing747-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing747-400_ref
atc_id=N747K
atc_airline=Landmark
atc_flight_number=1123
atc_heavy=1
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type="747-400"
ui_variation="Landmark Airlines"
description="More than 30 years ago, the 747 made its first trip from New York to London. Since then, it's become the standard by which other large passenger jets are judged. Its size, range, speed and capacity were then, and are now, the best in its class."
[fltsim.2]
title=Boeing 747-400 Paint2
sim=Boeing747-400
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=2
kb_checklists=Boeing747-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing747-400_ref
atc_id=N747I
atc_airline=World Travel
atc_flight_number=1123
atc_heavy=1
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type="747-400"
ui_variation="World Travel Airlines"
description="More than 30 years ago, the 747 made its first trip from New York to London. Since then, it's become the standard by which other large passenger jets are judged. Its size, range, speed and capacity were then, and are now, the best in its class."
This was taken from the default B747-400 notice the flight sim numbers and the texture numbers
Just compare you cfg file to this and make sure it looks similar 8-)

Make sure you pasted the folder named texture.ALA into the Lockheed_L1649A folder in your FS9\Aircraft directory. Then edit Aircraft.cfg adding the new variation from the author's Readme instructions after the last previous variation
(the entry in Bold type below).
[font=Courier]// This file based on L-1049G flight dynamics (L1049G_FS9.AIR)
// version 2.3 by Wolfram Beckert (Apr 6, 2004)
// modified version for L-1649A Starliner Project by the Starliner Project team
// See Starliner thread at
www.calclassic.com [fltsim.0]
title=Lockheed L-1649A Starliner Prototype
sim=L1649A
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=N1649

Failed to mention that I had since downloaded V2.0 of the same plane but the .cfg looks the same.

After reglancing at your examples, I see the line 'texture=ALA//requires directory from N1649'. Pehaps there's something similar from the TWA plane (v2,0) that I've overlooked?

Those CFG entries look very similar. I can't see why yours wouldn't work unless;
a) It's conflicting with the original Connie.
b) The new texture folder is incorrectly named.
Note that the Alaska variation will be listed separately under L-1650 Starliner on the selection menu.
[quote]What, by the way, did you name that folder and does it make a difference?

Somehow I created a dupe folder - texture.ALA - under Alstar.

Glad you fixed it.
I have no knowledge of the Birds Eye View scenery. Sorry.
