Can't restart FS9.

I've installed FS9 into my Vista 64 bit but when I end the flight & click the minus (-) sign, it drops to the bottom of the desktop (task-bar is it called?) as expected but clicking it to restart only get me a black screen with an oblong window with the aircraft in it.  The only thing I can do get out of it is to press escape which takes me to my desktop.  FS9's not running of course.   I'd be grateful for ideas about a cure!
Thanks.

You might have to set it to run in XP compatibility ;)

Right click on the shortcut on your desktop which starts FS - there should be a "compatibility" option - and I believe the setting you can select is titled XP with Ser Pak 2 (or words to that effect).

Thanks.  I've done that but I still get the black screen with the blue letterbox with the aircraft in it.   I have to press escape to get out & then have to restart the sim.
Everything's running smoothly otherwise.

The problem is really simple you are trying to run a 32 bit program on a 64 bit operating system. It is like trying to put a square peg in a round hole [glow=yellow,2,300]IT WONT WORK[/glow] you might have a option to set your system in emulate mode. 8-)

I'm running vista to, and I had the same problem. the only solution is to close fs9 and start it up again.
