How do you get the military planes onto FS 04?  Please help!  They all look so awsome!  Please tell me in a step-by-step process.  Thanks!

1) download the .ZIP file to a temporary location, like a "downloads" filder you create.

2) Using windows explorer, Unzip the folder to a temporary location, like either the "downloads" folder or to your desktop. To "unzip", use your mouse and "right-click" the folder, nd select "extract".

3) the un-zipped aircraft folder ehould have at least four folders and at least two files; "model", "panel", "sound" and "texture" folders and an "aircraft" file and a XaircraftX.air file.

Most doewnloads also have a "Read Me" file.  Be sure to read it.

4) Copy and paste the XaircraftX *folder* containing the four folders an two files into the FS9's "aircraft" folder, usually located at C/: program files/Microsoft Games/ Flight simulator 9/ aircraft.

That's usually all there is to it.  Some add-ons may have extra folders like "sound" (not the same as the "sound folder *in* the aircraft folder) and "Gauge" folders.  Copy the *contents* of those files into the "sound" and "gauge" folders of FS9)

The "readme" file of the download should cover anything else

The process for Military airplanes is no different than any other aircraft.

This is what I do:

1. Verify that the aircraft is indeed for the version of FS which you are running (FS2004 or FSX for example) BEFORE you download it.

2. Unzip it to a temporary folder and then read any install instructions the author has provided.

3. Manually copy and paste the folders to the folders in FS where they should go.

4. On any new aircraft I am auditioning, I do NOT place any gauges which may have been included into my gauge folder.

That makes for such a nice clean gauge folder! ;) I love this tip! :)[/quote]

BTW - That tip appears to work properly in FSX also - but I have only done limited testing with it.

Great tip, David - coincidentally it's the way I've always done it too - one of the unsung advances of FS9 over FS8.

Welcome to the web's friendliest forums, by the way!

;)
