FS SkyWorld 2004/More Autogen?

Postby SubZer0 » Tue Nov 18, 2008 11:19 pm

Hello all,

I just started using FS9 a couple of days ago and have spent the past few days installing as many addons to improve the visual aspect of my sim (thank you, Harold). I'm using FS SkyWorld 2004 for my sky and clouds. However, I just went for a flight a few minutes ago up in Alaska and the weather was VERY cloudy... My frames dropped to under 15, sometimes even 6fps. It was shocking (look at my specs in my sig).

Are FS SkyWorld clouds really that heavy on the frames when it's really overcast? Is there anything I can do to improve the frames?

Another question: How can I get more autogen in my sim? Harold has helped me with Silver Wings to get more trees, and I can see that helped a bit. But I'm looking for more buildings as well. Anything I can do in that area? Thanks in advance!

-Andy

Here is a screenshot of what the weather looks like and what my frames are with that weather (usually 60+)

And here is a shot of what my weather settings are in FS

Help?

Put the cloud draw distance to the minimum. It will help.

...and reduce your "Sight" distance to the minimum.... :)...!

In "Weather" set your sight distance to a more realistic 5 - 10 - 20 Miles Maximum, depending upon conditions.....like in real life!...;)...!

There is no point in rendering Autogen, etc, scenery way beyond your normal sight distance..;)...!...

....and Lock your Frame Rate to 20 FPS Max*!

F.....G-BPLF....FS 2004 + FS Navigator.... 8-)...!

FS 2004 runs like a dream with my Socket A, AMD 2600+ (2.1 GHz), and nVidia 7800 GS 256 AGP Card...+ 2.3 MB Ram...Joy!... :)...!

*...if your Frame Rate reads 19 FPS for most of the time, you are doing fine... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!
