I was flying from Anchorage Intl to Juneau Intl in Alaska and during approach to Juneau ATC gave me visual runway 26 to land. I checked the options to select another runway for landing and it gave an LDA Runway 26 approach. Just curious what LDA meant, never saw it before. Thanks.

It's a type of non-precision approach.. localizer only (no glideslope) that is not  aligned with the runway (normally because of an obstacle).

It will get you close enough to make an adjustment, visually..

Funny you should bring this up.

I was flying a twin prop from Anchorage to Juneau yesterday on an IFR flightplan, and the tower wanted me to automatically fly the visual approach, but I requested the LDA approach, grabbed the LDA Runway 8 approach chart and flew that instead.

...And at the moment, i'm flying back up to Anchorage :D
