Commoner's permanent modification should do it....
One thing to remember on the panel is that if your throttle settings are too low, you will see the red amperage light turn on. Just bump up the throttle a little more until the light goes off, and then you should be fine. This plane, and the other AN-2 addon, don't like to be running with a completely closed throttle, as it should be in real life...

In real life for instance, on the Cessna's that I fly, if you try to sit there with the throttle completely closed, you'll foul up the mags real quick, beyond not getting a proper electrical current. (Carbon deposits)
