Beaten to death...

I'm sure this question has been beaten to death. I downloaded and installed the tasty Stratrojet Merlin from Page 5 of the Concept Aircraft downloads. I also got the "Independence" texture while I was shopping and went to put it into the list of textures from which to choose under Create a Flight. I got into the config file and once-over copied the description of one texture to create the place for the add-on texture to go. I turned flightsim.4 into flightsim.5 and made the various changes so as to avoid a doubling error. I called the folder for the add-on texture "texture.5" to match the previous four and slid it into the base Merlin folder. I launched FS and "Independence" isn't there.  I think I did it right. I have never added a texture before to any model whatsoever, but I think you have to copy the basic flightsim.x description, name it for the texture, give the new texture a sequential numbering if there are more than one for the model and that should be it. I don't have my fifth texture, so I obviously left out something. Please, anyone, can you point me in the right direction, here?

I have this same question in the repainting forum...

I found my error. I copied the stuff under flightsim.4 but failed to change the name of the airplane from Reno Air Racer or whatever flightsim.4 was to Independence, which is what flightsim.5 is. Once that was done, it showed right up. A small victory for me. My first-ever add-on texture. I'm dangerous, now. Next challenge: adding new scenery...

Dangerous is as dangerous does - don't forget the backups! Glad you sorted it.
