Problem with flying from HK to Pudong Shanghai

Postby akka » Wed Aug 13, 2008 10:31 pm

I tried to fly from HK to PUdong yesterday with my 737-800 and PMDG 747 but then it continues to crash my fs9 5 minutes after takeoff when I'm in the region of Guangdong some 588 miles from destination. I checkout which modules crash my system and found that it was all over the place, sometimes it is the ntdll, while other times it is the ground terrain module and then the weather module. I tried flying to Beijing to Shanghai and Guangzhou to Shanghai and it works fine.
Anybody knows what is happening?

I have not installed any additional scenery addons in HK or Shanghai but have added a fs98 Beijing scenery that includes the Olympics staduim. It works fine when I was flying my PLAAF Sukois all over Beijing so I don't expect it is the reason crashing my system.

I have not installed any new China mesh too.

I can't say that I have run across a problem such as this before, but if I may suggest making sure that you do not have duplicate AFCAD files for the airports you are using or even just flying near.
Beyond this, since you indicated that you believe that mulitple .dlls are causing CTDs, you may need to wipe everything, start fresh, and see if a completely default FS2004 install still crashes in this area. If it does, you computer may be corrupting the basic installation of the program for some reason.

Also, have you tried the flight with a default aircraft?

Good Luck.  :)

Well Sean, I have tried the default 777 from fs9 but it still crash the system. I thought that it might be the memory problem cause my Dell Inspiron notebook only has 1GB of RAM with 512MB memory vid card. My add on scenery is getting close to the 5GB range so I close all the programs including windows live messenger and use only default weather themes cause I usually fly with real world weather system updated every 15 mins but it still crashes the system. It only happens to this route I choose. Flying from HK to SE Asia, from UK to the US or within the US with real world weather doesn't have this problem. The flame rate really gets unfriendly when I tried to land in NY with my mega ultra realistic Manhattan scenery. Ha Ha but it works.

BTW how do U check whether there are any duplicate AFCAD files? ::) :-/

the first link on this page: http://www.nwlink.com/~erog/
for scanning for duplicate AFCADS^^

Other than that, I'm afraid I don't know what else to tell you...I'm hoping other people that are more knowledgeable with these issues will come to help, I'm just trying to do what I can...
;)

Good Luck with your issue,

-Sean

Hi Sean

I think I may have found the problem. Probably with the new Baiyan airport I installed a good while ago. I tried to fly from this airport to Pudong. The airport configuration is all wrong. The runway has the terminal standing in middle of it. When I try taking off using the large stretch of glassland with my 737-800, it CTD 20 seconds after reaching an altitude of 3000 ft. Flying to Pudong from Fujian (the next province from Guangdong) has no problem. I didn't catch this before cause I'm flying from the old default Baiyan airport from fs9.

In any case, I will use your link to scan for duplicate AFACD files. Thx for your help. Much appreciated

;D ;)

Hi Sean

Just to let U know. It is the New Baiyan airport. I removed it and everything works fine again. BTW I tried to scan the duplicate AFCAD files with your program but it said that it cannot find the addon scenery directory. What happened? ;D

Don't know what's up with the scanner, but I'm glad that you were able to sort out the problem!  ;)

Enjoy your flights!
