I recently bought a new computer and got FS9 installed and running, and am now working on rebuilding my hangar again.

It's very easy to miss something when adding those CFG entries. Can you post the modified Howard 500 Aircraft.cfg entry here so I can see it. Just the [fltsim.x] sections will do.

OK here is the modified aircraft.cfg file, I'll just post a few of the texture one entries to save space.

Right. I did a fresh install of the Howard 500 + updates + Coastal Command repaint using your CFG entries & all works as advertised. I can only check this in XP & you confirmed that it works on your own XP rig. The question is, where does Vista come into the equation?

My first thought is that Vista is not saving your edited Aircraft.cfg after you add the repaints. This has been mentioned before & one way over it is to move the file to your desktop before editing it. Then save changes & paste it back again. I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Yeah I had the issue of vista not saving the cgf file so I did exactly what you said, saved it to my desktop and then moved it back to the howard folder, no joy though, same results.

I had that problem with the Howard 500, too.  My only solution was to make the add-on textures into their own "sim".  I have two Howard 500 folders, one is the original, the other is "Howard 500 bare metal", but it contains the add-on textures.

Just make a new folder, add in the add-on textures, and grab the model, panel, sound .air from the original Howard 500 package.  Then cobblle together a new aircraft.cfg file.  Copy the original cfg, into  the new howard folder, edit by removing the original [flitsim.0,...] and add in the new fltsims from the add on texture "readme" and renumber as needed.  Install new Howard 500_whatever ( you want to call it).

It may seem "ham-handed", but it worked.

Ahhh, Vista.  ;)
