Now what's the problem?

I had my machine in mothballs for about two months. I set it up again last night and fooled around with FS for a bit. Everything ran fine. I just now started FS again for the first time since last night and I get a blue bar across the top of the screen (the bar you use to move a window around) with the words "FS 2004-- A Century of Flight" in it and the bar you get when you depress the Alt key under that. I have had FS on this machine since March and have never had a problem, especially one like this. And here's a new wrinkle: I start FS, and it appears in a small window on my desktop. This is distressing and I will not tolerate it. Any ideas as to how to alleviate this problem?

I don't know what I did, but I got it back to the way it was before the time spent in stir. I can't tell you what happened but the fix was done from a window, not from the keyboard in the direct fashion you describe. But I have another problem, as well. The Esc key will not let me escape FS. I have to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del to get out. Why would shutting down my machine for 60 days cause it to go haywire?

It sounds like you have a corrupt fs9.cfg. Back it up and delete it. FS9 will automatically create a new one for you when you start the sim.
You just have to redo all the settings in the sim again, like adjusting sliders, setting your traffic, etc.

That doesn't sound too tough. I have the config file backed-up on my Storage drive. Had it there since I built this machine just in case problemos like this came up. What are the chances it's buggered?
