A Couple of Questions

Postby DomSQ » Wed Jun 18, 2008 8:10 am

Hi,I just want to ask 2 questions I hope someone can answer.

1.)I've had a look around for some good night textures for FS2004 for awhile, but I haven't been able to come across any for some reason, now I'm sure I've seen a few in the past whilst browsing avsim, but though I can't seem to find them, really the question is can anybody recommend some good night textures (Freeware),as the default ones are abit bland and don't look very good.

2.)I've heard the safest and easiest way to add Landclass files in FS,is to make a folder with one scenery folder inside it,without no texture and call it "Landclass" and add that to the scenery.cfg, now really I'm just wondering where is the safest location to make the Landclass folder and where is the best setting in the scenery library to put it,in other words at the top of all my scenerys or at the bottom.

That's it really,I just wanted to clarify these 2 things,especially number 2 as I wasn't sure,and I'm scared of messing up my scenerys. :D

A landclass is just a bunch of bgl files, exactely like a normal scenery.
Best way to add it to the sim is to create a new folder in your "Addons scenery" folder. Just like you said, create a "scenery" subfolder and plane your bgl files in it. No need to edit the scenery.cfg, simply go to the scenery library in the sim, and declare your landclass on top of everything else, and you're done.

For the freeware night textures, I recommend:
- neu.zip
- neufix.zip (a fix for the first file)
- une.zip (ultimate night environment)

Install them in this order. You can find them at avsim. Here is what you will get from this mixture (sorry for hte size of those shots, I did them long ago when I was still using FS9):

You might also want to give a try to the two night textures packs linked on this page:

Cheers mate,I take it you can add LC files for all different scenerys in the 1 landclass folder?

And thanks for the night textures,I prefer the first set you posted, they're very realistic,I'll download them now.

Thanks alot again

Yes, you can add several LC into just one folder normally. Only thing is, I wonder how the sim reacts when it has to load a folder which contains data for several different parts of the globe :/ Maybe it's better to separate them into specific folders, maybe it doesn't change anything... I don't know...

And yes, the first set of files is great. I'll try to find a nicer picture, just wait a second...
EDIT: nope, could not find anything, sorry :P
