Sign-up here for Hollywood....

Postby Fozzer » Wed Jun 04, 2008 6:40 am

Hello Chums.... ;)...!

As most of my flying time is spent in Sunny California, and in particular the Los Angeles area, I am always troubled by this vision of the Hollywood sign on top of Mount Hollywood....>>>>
Scenery add-on:

My landmark!

It is the best scenery file I can find of the sign.
(It also contains the detail of the Radio installation, and the Griffin Observatory)

I have used it in FS 2002, and now in FS 2004, and it always exhibits the same problem:
The letters should be white, and the background should be transparent!

The Texture file contains this:

Whether the cure cant be found in the texture file above, or maybe the problem lies within the actual  scenery.bgl file...?

The file is quite small and can be found here...>>>

Hollywood Sign. FS 2002.

A Chocolate Cookie, and a cuddle, for anyone who can fix it for me... :-*...!

Paul....G-BPLF...FS 2004..... :)...!

...a couple of my Sim V Chums have had a go at it for me in the past...without success... :'(...!

...(....perhaps they didn't like the thought of being cuddled?).... ::)....!

P.S. I don't think the original designer ever cured the problem himself.... ::)....?

OK. Give me your e-mail address via PM & I'll send it over.

It was quite easy to fix really. As Alex noted it's the Alpha Channel. You have to set the transparency. Several ways of doing this in DXTBmp.

PS. The letters could do with a lick of paint but I don't think I can fix that. When I visited Hollywood in real life we couldn't see that sign for the smog.
