FS9 not working after Vista SP1 and DX10 update

I have just loaded Vista SP1 and the update to DX10.  All works okay on
FSX, but I cannot get my FX9 working.  The start screen seems to come
up okay with the DC3, but the screen starts flashing, then when it gets to
the select screen it flashes on and off and I have to exit.   Do I need to
click something to disengage 64 bit or the DX10 mode???
Can anyone give me a clue??    Thanks

Flight Simulatoar 2004 only supports DirectX 9. Just because you have DirectX 10, doesn't mean Flight Simulator will run in DirectX 10.

Only FSX will run on DirectX 10 ...

I think I once saw a commandline syntax that you could use to run a game on Vista with a DirectX 10 card in DirctX 9.
However I have no idea if that was true or a myth. Let alone that I can remember where I saw it ...

I also have DX9c installed on my machine.

There you go!
