Auto Spoiler..

I was wondering if there is anyway to setup "Auto spoiler" for the default 777.
There is a line in the .air file that says:
[glow=yellow,2,300]Spoiler Auto Deploy Available= TRUE.[/glow]
But this does not seem to do anything when I land. I would like to have the spoilers automatically deploy when the Auto brakes kick in.
Is there a line I can add to the .cfg to activate Auto spoiler?
Thanks for the help.

You can activate Auto Spolier by hitting Shift + / whilst in flight.

Don't think so.. Manual spoiler is just "/". By using Shift+/ you arm the spoilers which deploy as soon as the wheels touch down.
I'm off to check this out as it's been a while since I've flown any "Heavies."

Yup, just checked it with the default 777. If you display the throttle quadrant and then press "Shift+/" you can see the spoiler lever move to the armed position and the spoilers deploy on touch down.

Yeah zaphod is right, on touchdown it will auto deploy, although i prefer doing it manualy, it gives you a finer control about how to let the nose come down.

Thanks for the info!!
I have to go and try this. I guess this is what that entry in the .air file does. But I did not know how to activate it. I would think that most heavies (757,767,777,747) have this feature in FS

Sorry guys.. It did not work. I don't even have a key command set up for it. For some reason I can't get the lever in the "auto" setting. I tried SHIFT+/ and it just raised the spoilers.
Does this have to be done when I am in the air? Maybe because I am on the ground trying SHIFT+/..?

Hi F16.
You can only arm the auto spoiler when in the air. As in my earlier post, if you display the throttle quadrant while flying then press the "Shift+/" combination you will see the spoiler lever move to the armed postion. The spoilers will then deploy

Oh. Ok.. NOW I got it to work! I did a flight from LAX to PHNL today and was able to arm it. Worked great!
I do have another question though. When I was on final, I kept wanting to tap the spoilers. If I do this, does this de-activate the auto spoilers?
Thanks for the help.

I do believe it moves the handle back to the closed position, not to the auto position. Really the spoilers shouldn't be used much on final, by then you should have the gear and flaps out to slow you down. If you still need them you are probably coming in too steep.

Yes it will disactivate the auto armed spoiler, its not recommended to use spoilers on final, i once had the habit of deploying the spoiler a few feet above the runway threshold, it will smack you down.
I think the auto spoiler works by wheel presure so when on the ground it will instantly deploy.

One of the biggest problems I have found with spoilers in general in FS9 is that it is an "all or nothing" feature. I've noticed on many real life flights the pilot will deploy a little bit of spoiler to help control speed. As far as I am aware there is no way to do this in FS9.
Having said that I do have an F14 (I think) that uses a gauge to set the amount of spoiler deployed by percentage but it is a little cumbersome to use.

I believe that you can assign a joystick axis to the spoilers. Then you can deploy them in whatever increments you'd like, OR use the autodeploy function.
I have that set up that way in my simpit. However I can';t remember if it is a default assignment... or if I set it up through FSUIPC (payware version).
best,
