Will a mod made for CFS2 (Combat Jet Trainer) work in FS9?

According to the distributor Combat Jet Trainer is compatible with FS2000/FS2002/CFS2. http://www.justflight.com/product.asp?pid=30

In that case I wouldn't expect it to be compatible with FS9.

You certainly can use CFS2 aircraft in FS2004 as many Corsairs, Wildcats, Hellcats etc have been converted. My memory is being tweaked here as it has been years but I believe this is the way to do it. BTW I wouldn't attempt any aircraft older than FS2002 or CFS2 however.

1. Open the aircraft.cfg of each aircraft you want to use in notepad.
2. Make a backup.
3. Edit file and add the lines shown in red.

If you add the lines in red to the file, listing Corsair or Hellcat or Wildcat or whatever your new aircraft it will now show in the aircraft selection list in FS9.


You may need to obtain a copy of Airwrench and check the flight characteristics and adjust accordingly due to difference between CFS2 and FS9.


If the aircraft doesn't show you may have a corrupt mdl file. Search for a program called mdrepair.zip I think it is and that should repair the file adequately.
