Dead engines

Hi, every now then, perhaps from something I'm doing, whenever I start off on the runway my engines are dead and it takes ages to go through the startup sequence.
When this occurs, it happens for all aircraft on all airports - any idea ?
What I currently do to solve the problem is delete my FS9.cfg but that dumps a lot of other stuff too and is obviously not the correct way to do things  ::)

double click icon to start FS.

go into FLIGHTS.

....OTHER,

click

DEFAULT or MEIGS

those flights ALWAYS begin with engines started.

Go from there, make a different place and plane the default, but your engines will always be running

:)

BTW,

within the FS9.cfg,

your default flight is

here,

[USERINTERFACE]
MAP_ORIENTATION=2
PAUSE_ON_LOST_FOCUS=0
PROMPT_ON_EXIT=0
SelectFlightLevel=0
SelectFlightTitle=0
PageID=4
OpenATCOnCreate=0
[glow=yellow,2,300]SITUATION=C:\Users\Beverly\Documents\Flight Simulator Files\ORD[/glow]
DisplayFuelAsWeight=1

[glow=yellow,2,300]ORD[/glow] being the flight

You can just go there and type in 'Meigs' or 'Default' or any other flight you want to be 'START UP' flight

Thanks Allen, I have made due note of your reply and will check it all out the next time my engines go dead, which no doubt will be soon enough :)

Start-up in FS: CTRL-E. Wow what a sequence.

Try this: pick a plane, pick an airport. Start the flight. As soon as your on your parkingspot, with the engine(s) running, press ';'. Save your flight and make it the DEFAULT. Now all your flights will start with the engine(s) running, no matter in which plane at whatever airport.

Good luck,

Crash ;)

Ive a 727 that insists on starting up with two engines running and one dead even though everything else would start with all engines running......! Drove me mad but whatever i did its solved itself now.

it IS a problem when you find yourself with your engines dead just as you get ready to take off. On the other hand, it's also fun to start your flights at the gate with the engines dead, so you can simulate a more or less real departure, with startup and taxiing procedures etc..... I do that with some of my default flights, when I'm not in a hurry (which, fortunately, is most of the time).
