Imported plane

Okay I'm not sure if this is something I am suppose to be able to do or not....I took a certain plane from CFS2 and tried to import it into FS9. It works...kinda. It's in the game and it flies but has some major problems. First, the landing gear is not visible and the control surfaces don't move. Second, it seems like the plane defaults to some little prop engine and sound (this plane is a jet). It sounds like a little Cessna and has very little power as it can barely reach 200 knots. So, my questions of course are: why doesn't my gear show up and controls move, and what file determines which engine and sounds the aircraft uses?

...mmm...not sure why you would want to use CFS a/c in FS9 but to get some answers it is not enough to say "a certain plane ".......EXACTLY which plane.... preferably a link to it, would let anyone interested be able to get that download and check it out........... ;)

The sound for example could  aliased  to one of the default a/c sounds in CFS so it wouldn't be available in FS9...........

More info please...commoner ;)

Many later CFS2 aircraft work very well in FS9.* This doesn't sound like one of them. I can't do anything about the animations but you can fix the sound problem by aliasing Sound.cfg to a suitable FS9 default aircraft as commoner points out.

*Look for aircraft created with FSDS2 or GMAX.

I found it often worked well the other way round.... ;)...!

Many of my nice FS 2000/FS 2002 General Aviation Aircraft worked well in CFS 2...

Many a happy hour spent cruising around the CFS scenery in my FS 2000/FS 2002 Cessna 152 Trainer, Piper Cub, etc..... :-*...!

Paul...Cessna 152, with twin Browning Machine Guns... ;)...!

Yeah I kinda figured that would happen. Anyway, I found an L-39 on here and it has like 50 variations. That may be the one you are refering to.

Try this:

Go to C:\documents and settings\Your Folder\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9.
Open the fs9 folder and open the fs9 cfg.file.
Scroll down until you get to the section that says [FrameCallNoWarn] It is roughly 1/3 of the way down the file. Under the [FrameCallNoWarn] there should be your plane listed that you installed. It may look like this:

Well I appreciate the info but there is one slight problem with it. I do not have an fs9.cfg file anywhere in the fs9 directory.

I would not recommend attempting this fix if you are not familiar with accessing and editing the cfg. file. An error may result in your flight simulator not operating. Sorry.

,mm...well that isn't such a big disaster as it might at first appear ...the fs9.cfg is perhaps the only .cfg file which can be deleted with the sure knowledge that a new one will be generated on starting the sim....commoner ;)

A lot of good information, including info on fs9.cfg, is available here:
