What is the trick to getting a real sound from iDGF's MD-11s in FedEx and UPS renditions. What I get sounds like a Beechcraft Baron rather than a 3-engine turbofan jetliner. The sound I get from Mike Stone's MMD-11 is what I am looking for. :-?

flipside,

You could simply alias the sound right to that Mike Stone aircraft.

That won't work unless the aircraft has its own sound files. Most of Mike Stone's aircraft are aliased to use the sound of the FS9 defaults. In this case it's probably the b737_400. The easiest method would be to paste a copy of the Sound folder from the Mike Stone MD-11 into the folders of the aircraft you wish to use it.

Hagar,

Aha... didn't know that.  Thanks for chiming in.

If an aircraft's sound file aliases to an aircraft that isn't in your 'hangar'
you will hear the default aircraft sound, that is, WHATEVER aircraft you sim STARTS with.

Open the sound folder in Mike Stone's aircraft. The one you like.

It will look something like this

[fltsim]
alias=b737_400\sound\

Copy THAT INFO into the one you want to sound like Mike Stone's.

Or, if you see a lot of WAV files in there, copy ALL of that into the one you want to sound like Mike Stone's aircraft.

You mean the Sound.cfg file in the Sound folder. It's actually much easier to use the method I suggested. Paste a copy of the Sound folder into the aircraft you wish to use it.

PS. I checked out the iFDG MD-11 & the sound is aliased to the default b777_300 which is in turn aliased to the B737_400. This is the cause of the problem. I believe there's a separate sound pack available for it.

Devyn Silverstein has made some very nice soundsets for the MD-11. Look here.
You can copy the wav files into the sound folder of your MD-11.
