Hi Guys,

I have a problem with the rivers and lakes in North America. When flying at high altitudes i can see the rivers from a distance but as i get closer they disappear. This all started when i unstalled Ultimate Terrain North America. I reinstalled it but didn't fix the problem. I would really like to avoid reinstalling fs2004 because everything else works perfect. Is there anyway I can just fix the water in North America without the headache of deleting and reinstalling everything? Thanks in advance. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

I have UT Can/Alaska and there are more than a few configuration options in the configurator, its been so long now I cant remember exactly where it is, but I'm sure it will be accessable through Start/Programs/???. Sorry but I'm not on my FS computer right now.
Good luck and dont pull that reinstall trigger yet  ;)

Before you uninstalled UT, did you use the "restore default fs....whatever it is" function? I would think it would have done this by default when you uninstalled it the first time anyway, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for your replies. Yes I used the restore but all it did was restore all my settings in the display settings. Like i said, I can see the rivers and lakes from a distance but as i slowly get closer they disappear. As soom as I get close to the Canada border everything works perfect as in Europe. Even the coast lines of the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific and Atlantic are just blocky. As are the few lakes i can see. Mose are Just square lakes. The coast lines and rivers and lakes in North America are just screwed up big time. I replaced the texture folder from the fs disk but still no luck. I don't know what else to do! Thanks for the advice. I can use all the help I can get...

I don't have UT, but: It must disable default terrain .bgl's, so they don't conflict with it's own terrain .bgl's. From what I've read UT does this by changing the default terrain .bgl file extensions to .xxx.

To restore the default it changes the extensions back to .bgl. Apparently, for some reason, this did not occur. This would acount for your missing lakes, rivers and 'blocky' shorelines/coastlines. (There may be other terrain features missing that you have not noticed.)

The terrain files for the US (and Canada) are in the folders ..\Scenery\namc, name, and namw\scenery\ . Check for

Dave3cu,

Thanks Buddy, you hit the nail on the head. It works perfect now. I would have never figured it out. I tried everything but it just took someone that knew what they were talking about. I appreciate you explaining it  to me. I was worried that i would have to reinstall everythig but you saved the day.. Once again I appreciate it very much.. You have a good weekend..
