I have just gotten a new computer to replace my aging computer that I have been using FS2004 on. I will be installing FS 2004 onto my new computer.  Are there any folders / files that I need to backup off the old PC and then copy / paste into the new FS2004 on the new PC?
For instance, these folders? Aircraft, Gauges, Sound, Effects, Modules, Scenery, etc.........
I ask this as I do not relish the task of installing all the aircraft, gauges, sound, effects, etc.. again.
And, what about the FS9.cfg in the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9 folder? Copy that file over to the new PC?, or copy over the entire contents of the FS9 folder at the above location?
I also have add-on scenery, AI, etc, that I installed over time.
Will I have to install fresh again the add-on scenery, AI, etc??
Is there a easy way to accomplish all of this?

If you are going to install the software from a fresh start (from the disks, so to speak), then I don't see why you need to transfer anything from the old to the new computer. I'm sure you have tons and tons of add-ons that you have put on over the years, so you'll need to somehow put these onto some sort of storage media (CDs) for putting back into your sim once the base software installed is on your new system.

I just had to do this about a week ago when I went from my old machine to this one. I spent a few hours transferring stuff from the old machine, onto several external drives, then onto the new machine. I was not able to transfer the software or the sceneries, so it took time to reinstall all of it. I do not want to do all of that again anytime soon. There is migration software out there, but I am too cheap to buy it. I suppose it's fast and easy, but I am still too cheap to buy it...

Depending on the age of your FS2004 install disks you want to make sure you apply any updates (9.1, DirectX)
