The most annoying thing in the world.

I just recently took a flight from Miami to Aruba and I was climbing to 9000ft and at 8500ft ATC handed me off to another frequency so then my aircraft starts to level out at 9000ft. Then they tell me to climb to 17000ft. So my problem is why does ATC for 1. tell you 200 ft before your atltitude (ex: after takeoff climb to 10000ft and at 9800ft they tell you to climb to say 18000ft) by then your aircraft is leveling out. 2. Is there and fix for this or what do you guys do to try and overcome this. 3. How come in FS2002 ATC gave you atleast 1000ft notice to continue your climb. Sorry if this seems confusing I just have to vent right now.

You're going too fast? That's kinda how they're supposed to do it. Climb slower.

well its somewhat of a normal occurrence..atc in flightsim is far from perfect, but the increments allow you to level off and pick up more spped before climbing again. you can also try lowering your vertical speed so it will be smoother..

hope this is of some assistance!!  ;D

I agree; take it easy on the climb. In FS9, better to have them ask you to "expedite climb" than to have them throwing alt. clearances at you at the worst possible moment, which they seem to do a lot  if you hustle upstairs.

Just when you see you're reaching the altitude the ATC said, decrease the vertical speed as you wait for the next indication... ;)

Yes, this really annoys me as well. To overcome this to some extent I always set my ap altitude 500' higher than the climb altitude given by atc, so when they belatedly give the next altitude I have a smoother transition.
Another thing that also annoys me with atc is when you start getting directions to your approach. Turn to 160.........turn to 180.......turn to 140........turn to 195........turn to 160.......etc. A totally unrealistic zig zag. This is below 10,000 as well when flying at 240 knots. Any fix for this?

I have a similar problem when flying IFR into MKG from the east  I start getting vectors and then they hand me off to GRR then GRR vectors me back to MKG?? zig zagging all over the place.

happens every single time it peeeeevves me sooo bad.

mainly because it would never happen IRL.

It is very common in a lot of areas.. in example, when I'm approaching Lima or Cuzco IFR, I'm always told to descent, and then climb, and then descent again, and so on...

Not so comfortable for the passengers in my A319!
