Hi

Could somebody please tell me were I can find a list of the NAV, ILS, COM, etc. frequencies installed in FS2004?

Thanks

Except for a rare error or two, the MSFS radio frequencies are the same as real world radio frequencies. So you can use any real-world source.

And.. if you bring up the map in the sim.. you can click on all those things and get a pop-up window with information galore.

Hi, and welcome.

If you get into the habit of creating a flightplan using the FS flight planner that uses VORs, NDBs etc as part of the route, then the frequencies will show on the flight plan that's available during the flight on the kneeboard.

The kneeboard of FS2002 was actually a better tool IMHO than the FS9 equivalent, because there you could type any text e.g. frequencies into the kneeboard in advance, whereas you can't do that with FS9.

Does any reader know if there's a method of displaying these frequencies? Maybe a whiz XML programmer could come up with a small module that would extract the frequencies from the current flightplan.

Any takers?

You can also find them by going to the Map view and clicking on any airport or navaid.

Yeh, my perspective is to have the info available in real time rather than having to stop the sim while you've got the map view open. Just seems a little more realistic to me.

Paul,
You must have read my mind. I hesitated about mentioning it for one main reason - I use the freeware 3.0 version (I'm a cheapskate!) and the frequencies displayed are not totally 100% accurate.

I agree, it's a great tool though.

It's a bloody disaster for new-comers, that the FS Navigator Site has finally closed down... :'(...!

I've been using it, (the payware/registered version), for every version of Flight Sim since FS '98, and without it I wouldn't have progressed up to FS 2004....
...trust me...;)...!
I would have concentrated more on Hoovering, dusting the furniture, and mowing the grass, etc, etc... ::)...!

Its fun to see other Flyers, on-line, using it...;)...!

Its the main reason why I fly with FS 2004 and FS Navigator every day...;)...

...So much joy should be made a Criminal Offence*.... ::)...!

Paul...G-BPLF... 8-)...!

* ....perhaps?... ::)...!

FSNavigator is one of the neatest flight planning tools out there

FSNavigator is one of the neatest flight planning tools out there  :)  All the information you need.

But for real-time, in-flight access to the info you'd need.. just do like you would for real. As you're planning the flight with FSNavigator.. write it all down for easy reference... with  liitle notes ...

Running FSNavigator in flight is like cheating.. it shows you exactly where you are, real-time, moving map and all  ::)   That takes all the challenge and accomplishment out of REALLY navigating  ;)

The whole point to learning how to navigate by VOR/NDB.. is to know where you are by using those tools ..  and to know when you're getting lost.. and to get yourself UN-lost (without peeking at a GPS-like FSNavigator   8-)  )

Brett...

Compared with the way I fly with my comfy FS 2004, and my comfy FS Navigator...

...that's like being Flayed alive!... :o... :o... :o...>>>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaying

...LOL... ;D...!

Paul...G-BPLF... ;)...!

...and FS Nav does have the advantage that you can spot all the other Flyers on-line....(Radar Map)...

...and they cant hide from you!... :evil...!

...I do most of the right things in the Sim, when flying...
...but FS Nav is so much..........JOY!.... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

LOL  :D ;D    I understand.. honest...

I've sat down with REAL pilots who still have trouble navigating by VOR...  And flown with real pilots who panic when you suggest turning the GPS off  :o

It's not easy and can be like work, if it doesn't interest you.

How about this...  When you get around to getting FSX and we can do the shared cockpit online... let's go up and give it a whirl. I'm a very patient teacher.. Just ask Alrot.. even with the language barrier, I got him flying by VOR... and not just VOR-to-VOR..  we actually found an airport at the intersection of two VOR radials (in 2-mile visibility)... got lost for a bit.. but re-grouped and landed just fine  8-)

It's a very satisfying accomplishment   8-)

What's "FSX", Brett?... :o...!

Is it like entering World War III, compared to FS2004?... :'(...!

...Tee-Hee... ;D...!

I've got FSX....and I've studied the "FSX" Forums...since it was released....

...and the residents terrify me!... :o...!

FS 2004 is so "cool and cuddly", that I rather like it here...in the "Comfort Zone" with my FS Nav... :-*...!

Paul....G-BPLF...so little stress!.... :)...!

In real flight, in our Club's little Cessna 152, we have just an NDB Beacon located at the Airfield, and its always fun getting myself back "Home" again after a fly-around, keeping a wary eye on that little yellow arrow...!!

Naw...  it's peaceful now..  all the posturing and foot-stomping is over  :)  You'll be there eventually.. or maybe even FSXI.. all in good time  ;)

You can turn off the function that shows you where you are in FSnav.

But.. but..  how is the map displayed ? Isn't it still oriented by your location ?  With just the icon gone ? Still letting you know where you are relative to airports and nav-aids ?
